Re: Is it a rolling release or a point release?

As far as I'm aware, Debian will not be discontinuing 32-bit editions, so no. It's more a case of no longer providing something (almost) nobody uses.

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

Looking at /usr/share/doc/lsb-release/README.Debian, I wonder why 'our' /usr/lib/os-release doesn't have VERSION or VERSION_ID.

Re: Is it a rolling release or a point release?

There will be one more ISO of all the current 32-bit Community Editions, i.e. both buster (10 - stable) and bullseye (11 - EE) based. They will not have NVIDIA support as NVIDIA killed that. After that, don't expect any more 32-bit ISOs. The SolydXK EEs (Enthusiast Editions) are testing (bullseye) b...

Re: Breakage and News Tracker for Debian Testing [Bullseye]

This morning, purging it wanted to remove about 40 other packages, one of which I didn't want to lose. This evening that one stays. Go figure.

Re: Breakage and News Tracker for Debian Testing [Bullseye]

The package itself may be transitional, but on my system there still are a lot of packages that depend on it. So no.

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

Running tests now. Don't have time to fill in the spreadsheet. Some notes in this posting. SolydK Started live system in a VBox VM. After menu, still takes several minutes to show up (known issue). Desktop looks OK. ID-files (/etc/issue, /etc/lsb-release etcetera) OK. History clean (root too). Sourc...

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

I'll try to find the time to do a full test tomorrow, but I don't expect anything 'release critical' to crop up, so... Edit 13-09-2019 12:43 Nope. Sorry. Not gonna make it... :( I made the silly mistake of promising a cousin of mine to 'upgrade' his laptop. Unfortunately, he's a windows user and wan...

Re: How to copy Firefox-esr bookmarks to another OS

If I'm lazy (i.e. I don't have time to check whether Mozilla made any more incompatible changes since the last time I checked...) and don't want to run any risk, I just copy the entire profile directory to the other machine. As a test - and running the risk - I copied just the places.sqlite and favi...

Re: Firefox alpha/beta/nightly versions

First impression is it should be doable, but it will require a bit of work.

Question: which language version do you want? German or US English?

Re: Firefox alpha/beta/nightly versions

If I tried to get it from sid or exp would that collide with the regular install from solydxk repos? I need all versions side-by-side. Actually, what's in sid isn't the nightly. It's the default, non-esr version (and looking at the package tracker , I don't see the nightly in experimental either). ...

Re: Community ISO maintenance and build issues - 2

Could you remove kde-style-breeze-qt4 from solydk-system-adjustments-11's dependencies please? It's no longer in testing or sid and I think it's responsible for apt-get trying to pull the adjustments package off the SolydK EE ISO. Edit You may want to update the adjustments package's Description fie...

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

Curious. The SolydX ISO still has /etc/solydxk and contents. It's not on the EEs, because it was removed more than two years ago. Even more curious is /etc/fstab.d. This was a short lived experiment (by the util-linux developers) and also removed (many) years ago. Yet it shows up on all the ISOs, EE...

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

Maybe one thing regarding the SolydX ISO. The package qt4-qtconfig isn't much use anymore. There's a replacement for Qt5: qt5ct . Very useful if you have something like KeePassXC running and get fed up with it being the only thing not obeying your dark theme setting... I'm definitely going to includ...

Re: Breakage and News Tracker for Debian Testing [Bullseye]

Yes, I noticed that too. 4.14 uses a different xfconf element than 4.12, just as 4.12 used a different one than 4.10. So I was prepared for that. But when I opened the right directory in the configuration window, it ignored all the jpegs and only allowed selecting pngs or svgs. I'm going to modify m...

Re: Breakage and News Tracker for Debian Testing [Bullseye]

First experiences with Xfce 4.14.

Seems OK, except for one major niggle: does not accept jpegs as wallpaper/background.
What idiot decided that was a good idea...?

Edit
Got kernel 5.2.0-2 recently. No issues.

Re: owncloud client and keyring popup? [SOLVED]

An article in the TransIP knowledgebase I once read suggested using a standard owncloud client might fail unexpectedly. However, trying to find that article again draws a blank...

So I'm really not sure.
