Yahoo Search engine.

Old habits die hard, I've been using the Yahoo search engine for quite a while and haven't been able to find it for Firefox. Is not pretty but I grew my own. <SearchPlugin xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/2006/browser/search/"> <ShortName>Yahoo</ShortName> <Description>Yahoo</Description> <InputEncodin...

Re: booting freezes with second monitor plugged in

Just off the top of my head, I would say your video card can't handle both monitors set at max resolution, running at the same time. See if this helps. http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5312

been having a problem on the old ISO of after running the system most of the day many programs running as root wouldn't start until I rebooted. What programs are you running as root? Usually you should not need to run any programs as root. Any program that requires a password to run, synaptic, blea...

Figured out how to get zram to run with systemd

There was a typo on the page I found with the instructions but figured it out. There are 3 files you need to enable zram. They are: zramstart (Bash Script) zramstop (Bash Script) zram.service (Systemd Service File) Get these files below. Place zramstart and zramstop in the following folder. /usr/sbi...

Re: Display and Monitor

My final solution for my problem so I don't need to change resolution when I change monitors. Make a file in /etc/X11/Xsession.d/ directory with this line: xrandr -q | grep 'VGA1 connected' && xrandr --output LVDS1 --off --output VGA1 --auto [EDIT:then save it a an executable and reboot.] If you try...

Re: Display and Monitor

The two arrows pointing at eachother should let you set any detected resolution using the new KDE monitor controls. But if it only has 800x600 available you might want to use xrandr to add the new mode so that it'll display in the KDE settings too. Also try booting with nosplash as recently plymout...

[solution]Display and Monitor

Not listing monitor resolutions, Not just in SolydK but in most KDE distros, since it changed. just sets everything to 800x600 on both the internal and external monitors. Been having to using the xrandr -s command to change resolution. but xrandr -s 1680x1050 works on the external monitor and xrandr...

Re: Portable USB hard disk wont read

I had the same thing happen to me, the other day, only remembering that the USB DvD burner can't use a hub ether but must be plugged directly to the USB ports on the motherboard, kept me from pulling my hair out figuring out why. :D Same thing seems to apply for a USB HD. Still haven't figured out w...

Thanks Grizzler, didn't realize the syntax was that flexible. Like with most religions we are saying the same thing, but arguing syntax.

Re: LibreOffice 4.4, the most beautiful LibreOffice ever

I usually get my LIbreOffice debs directly from the site, that and Calibre for my e-books. Not really that hard to install. I haven't had any problems yet. Reran the ISO for SolydK just see if I could figure out the problems I was having and have come to the conclusion that it was more than likely a video problem, The install was faster and the driver manager worked correctly. For this computer the Atom N270 CPU doesn't work well with Qt graphics set o...

Re: 32-bit ISO Testing 201501

Everything seems to be working OK. Forgot that Solyd doesn't use a separate boot partition so need to go in and remove it. The GRUB update got confused. The install seemed to be a little slow but, that might just be the aggravation from trying the first burn twice before deciding it was a bad burn. ...
