Re: update breaks desktop customization

I'm not sure I'm going to be able to fix this. I can't change wallpaper -- whatever xfce uses to find image files can't see any of my .jpg or .jpeg files. Neither can Ristoretto or Shotwell. Firefox, GIMP, and ImageMagic see them just fine. I thought to reinstall Ristoretto (I think that's what xfce...

Re: update breaks desktop customization

Yes, I think I'm lucky too -- it's a long time between updates. Here's the command results you wanted to see (the inxri command output was formatted with ESC's (VT100 control characters?) that I've removed): xxx@sdx:~$ inxi -r Repos: Active apt sources in file: /etc/apt/sources.list deb http://repos...

[solved] update breaks desktop customization

Folks, I just used update manager to go from 2.6.0 to 2.7.6 (I know, I should come back to SolydX more often.) There were 5 pages of package updates, all of which seemed to go well. Because I got an updated kernel, I restarted SolydX within its VirtualBox home. The resulting system has the same imag...

Re: SolydXK Update Packs explained

Thanks grizzler and Schoelje. I'm seeing no ill effects from the package I did download, so I'll consider myself lucky this time. It is hard to wait when you just know something you want and need is right there for the taking. I'll keep watching for the update icon and document any problems I can re...

Re: SolydXK Update Packs explained

Folks, I'm running Solydx in a virtual machine and only really use it two or three times a week. It seems that every time I page to it, either the update logo isn't present or it shows that the system is up to date. However, if I run the Update Manager, it finds that there's a new UM waiting for me ...

Let me add my thanks. You've made my day -- I was looking forward to a handful of hassle.

Re: UP 2014.10.15

Just a note to say I successfully installed the upgrade to SolydX 64 -- with these minor glitches: 1. As experienced by freecicero (page 2), MathewLM (page 3), Ray (page 5), and tzirconia (page 7), upgrade from the icon stopped dead at: Processing triggers for menu (2.1.47) ... 2. Closing the Update...

Re: [Talk] Home Edition security updates

I think this is a complaint, a congratulation, and a confession of ignorance all rolled into one post. I don't get to play with SolydX as often as I'd like to -- now that gnucash runs under Win7 everything I need is on that other OS. I have SolydX running as a virtual machine and whenever I can find...

I thought I had followed those instructions. I helps to actually read the text I paste, I guess.

All works now. Thank you

Re: Repository Problem

@zerozero I think I'm good. Here's the look into my system you requested: dee@sdx:~$ inxi -r Repos: Active apt sources in file: /etc/apt/sources.list deb http://debian.solydxk.com/security testing/updates main contrib non-free deb http://debian.solydxk.com/production/ testing main contrib non-free d...

Re: Repository Problem

It looks like the problem with http://www.tuxlinuxnews.com is not a temporary thing. It's not simply that it doesn't respond as it should, it is now not known to my DNS server: pings come back "ping: unknown host http://www.tuxlinuxnews.com". It took me longer than it should have to find the trouble...

Re: UP 2014.01.15 [PRODUCTION]

Just a word to say that the upgrade went almost flawlessly for me -- I only had to decide to keep the existing lightdm configuration file. And that would have been an easier decision if I'd read more documentation. I've been exploring and playing with a 32-bit SolydX in a VMware virtual machine for ...
