Re: hdmi

Sorry though the 'HDMI' video (like mine) was not working :?
If the Audio there isn't working you MAY want to try a newer kernel

I needed a newer kernal for the video output of the HDMI so don't know if the audio was working :?

J.Jay
P.S. I use the 'Liquorix' kernel

Re: hdmi

If the HDMI don't work/give option for hooked up TV using 'solydxk 8 (based on 'Debian Stable) TRY using a EE comunity edition (based on debian 'testing)
Mine works on the EE edition but not the stable one (might be able to install a newer kernel to use?)

Have kept a USBpen with this distro tho all this time Now getting back to it (was cumpulsive 'DistroHopper') now mellowed alittle (maybe  ) trying new ISO (Jan17 one) thing to install on new desktop/laptop New hardware so using...

Re: xfce workspaces

You can also use th EE edition (goto downloads comunity edition (think only 64bit,have to manual configure th unoffical 32bit one for 'EE') has Xfce 4.12 (already in testing) can also try using the Mepis or MX14 backported repo on Jessie (main solydx). ]Be warned IT is a backports repo[/b although I...

Re: xfce 4.12

Use the 'experimental' debian. Follow wiki for how to use. Install using their 'xfce4' (it's the 4.12 meta package) then I coment out (in source list) just in case  I then put kdebian in the source list (agin follow instruction from ther site) and upgrade. (Its a 'sid' repo) The kdebian has up...

Re: Stable ISO frequency

yes This is the way to break your stable SolydXK system! Not a good idea. See "Debian Backports ›› Instructions": Just was suprised/didn't know that apt and apt-get worked different! :o I think I'll keep wifes/are main computer off backports and on stable. My computer will probally point to t...

Re: xfce 4.12

just to clarify this Is a 'sid repo and any depency needed ect would normally need something in testing or be include in package, But since 'jessie' is testing (as of now) all bets off when jessie goes stable and their will be a divergent 'testing' as of now only one (1) package doesn't in...

Re: Stable ISO frequency

Foun out hard way  If you have installed a backported package then, as long as the backports repo remains enabled, it will automatically upgrade to the new version (when you run "sudo apt-get update" followed by "sudo apt-get upgrade"). Downgrading to the original stable version is not general...

Re: xfce 4.12

Also (instead of experimental) Can use th kdebian repo (its a 'sid repo so be warned!) at kdebian.org in the source listd change the '/ppa' to '/xfce' also grab the keyring (I plan on using once to upgrade everything then comment(#) out, and wait for testing (my pointing preference) to catch ...

Re: Stable ISO frequency

Thank You! Got it J.Jay: The default (Jessie) SolydXK sources.list does include the Debian backports repository. However, no packages will be automatically installed from this repo. Instead, the user must install any required packages manually. Seen in source list (its configured in apt(?)) :? Still...

Re: Stable ISO frequency

But, as any backported packages must be specifically installed for each system, the "core" ISO(s) will remain the same. Backported packages will still need to be installed manually after OS installation, wherever this is in the life-cycle. Aren't backports on by default in 'solyd' and core (default...

Re: xfce 4.12

if one has sources pointing to 'testing' Xfce4.12 will probally hit month or so after debian 8 (Jessie) goes stable and the freeze over. 4.10 hit 'testing' month or so after debain 7 went stable, 4.8 hit 'testing' about a month (if remember corectly :? ) after debian 6 went stable.
