Re: Anyone using radiotray?

@grizzler: You are right. I'm not sure what I was thinking. A Python warning is not a fatal error and would not keep the program from working. I did install radiotray here and it is working. @THN: I spoke without thinking. An edit of the python scripts will not fix your problem, however, I affirm gr...

Re: Anyone using radiotray?

From the error messages THN posted, it looks like there is a backwards compatibility problem with the python script. Sometimes a script that is written and tested for a certain version of python will no longer work with next release of python. I believe that is what happened here. Backwards compatib...

Re: Somehow my in-app icons for VLC changed recently

I had a VLC update a couple of days ago to the same version you have. I also now have the orange icons. I have a lap top with Mint and I updated VLC to the same version and the orange icons appeared there. I would say the change was done by the VLC devs and is unrelated to the OS or theme.

I have been using DMO ever since I started using SolydX four years ago. I also used it with Ubuntu before that. No problems. <knock-on-wood>

Re: Firefox Icon

Sorry, it took so long to reply. I have been on vacation the last few days. No electronics was with me. I can guess from your previous posts that you use SolydX9 but it would be helpful to provide this information with every thread you start. Of course, I should have provided more info. Yes, you are...

Re: Launching a program by start that needs «sudo» password

Scott, every web page I have read concerning sudoers cautioned against using a text editor. Don't know why. As to your second question, I can't answer it either. Never tried it. I have always heeded the caution and used visudo.

Re: Launching a program by start that needs «sudo» password

You will need to edit /etc/sudoers by using visudo. Open a terminal and enter this: sudo visudo Scroll down to the bottom and add this line: user ALL=NOPASSWD: /path/to/Airvpn Replace 'user' with your user name and replace '/path/to/Airvpn' with the complete path to the program. This should allow th...

Re: Eventually will I need a new install?

I started using SolydX in January of 2014. I have updated/upgraded ever since. There has never been a need to reinstall. There has been a couple of minor snags along the way but I was always able to get help right here in this forum.

Or has there been no updates since the latest distro release?
The updates were done as part of the installation process.

Menu Spacing

The vertical spacing between entries in menus is quite large on my SolydX system. I would like to reduce it. I did it almost a year ago but the upgrade to 9 made the spacing even larger. I can't remember what I did to reduce the spacing. I think it was a gtk setting somewhere in /usr/share/themes bu...

Screensaver, yet still locks the screen after blanking. Solydx 8 didn't do this.

Update Notifications

After the upgrade to SolydX 9 a few days ago, I was not getting any update notifications. I was told in another thread that I should. After some poking around in Synaptic I installed pk-update-icon and that pulled in apt-config-auto-update. After rebooting I immediately got an update notification. T...

Execute Script Within Thunar

Starting with version 1.6.5, Thunar will no longer execute a script (with execute permission set) by double-clicking it. Instead the default action is to open the script in the default text editor. There is nothing in the right-click context menu or Thunar Preferences to change this behavior. This w...

Yes, I get the same thing. Menu-->Settings-->Desktop-->Folder Dropdown-->Other
Browse box appears. All entries under Name are grayed out, files and directories.

Re: SolydXK 9 released!

I just did the upgrade to SolydX9 keeping DMO and vbox using grizzler's script. No errors.

Just one question. Will the Package Updater appear in the notification area when an update is available?

Also, software-properties-gtk is giving the same errors as before.

Re: SolydXK 9 released!

Thanks grizzler. I am not very proficient with Bash so I am not certain what to do with sources.list and DMO. If I am understanding your script correctly, the DMO entry will be changed to stretch automatically and will be upgraded along with everything else. Is this correct or do I need to manually ...
