Re: SolydXK 10 released based on Debian Buster

@ydek Thanks. I was looking for feedback on the script. I have been upgrading for over 5 years without a clean install. Never saw a need for it. My system continues to be stable and performs perfectly. Anyway, I forgot another question. This would be directed to Arjen... The last upgrade script deal...

Re: Gnome-keyring problems (with chromium) [partly solved]

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but the addition of a command parameter to the menu entry or launcher will fix the problem. It tells chromium to not use the keyring.

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/chromium %U --password-store=basic

In that case I am at a loss. AFAIK the only thing left is the BIOS.

Hence my question : what switches my screens ?
Take a look at your screensaver settings and the Power Manager settings.

Re: SOLVED - Pan Newsreader Problem

A file in .pan2 called tasks.nzb was corrupt. Deleting it corrected the problem and pan ran OK and recreated the file. Not sure how the corruption happened. Maybe I should start thinking about replacing my hard drive. Anyway, the problem is solved. Thanks again ilu for nudging me in the right direct...

Re: Pan Newsreader Problem

Ilu, thanks for the reply. I renamed the directory .pan2 and pan started OK just like I had started it for the first time. So there is some corruption. I will figure it out by the process of elimination or I will start from scratch if necessary. Thanks again.

SOLVED - Pan Newsreader Problem

SolydX 9 with all updates Pan Newsreader version 0.141-2 Early this morning I downloaded some headers with Pan and even posted a few messages. Everything worked normally without any problems and Pan closed without a problem when I was finished. Just now I tried to run Pan again and it would not star...

Re: Anyone using radiotray?

@grizzler: You are right. I'm not sure what I was thinking. A Python warning is not a fatal error and would not keep the program from working. I did install radiotray here and it is working. @THN: I spoke without thinking. An edit of the python scripts will not fix your problem, however, I affirm gr...

Re: Anyone using radiotray?

From the error messages THN posted, it looks like there is a backwards compatibility problem with the python script. Sometimes a script that is written and tested for a certain version of python will no longer work with next release of python. I believe that is what happened here. Backwards compatib...

Re: Somehow my in-app icons for VLC changed recently

I had a VLC update a couple of days ago to the same version you have. I also now have the orange icons. I have a lap top with Mint and I updated VLC to the same version and the orange icons appeared there. I would say the change was done by the VLC devs and is unrelated to the OS or theme.

I have been using DMO ever since I started using SolydX four years ago. I also used it with Ubuntu before that. No problems. <knock-on-wood>

Re: Launching a program by start that needs «sudo» password

Scott, every web page I have read concerning sudoers cautioned against using a text editor. Don't know why. As to your second question, I can't answer it either. Never tried it. I have always heeded the caution and used visudo.

Re: Launching a program by start that needs «sudo» password

You will need to edit /etc/sudoers by using visudo. Open a terminal and enter this: sudo visudo Scroll down to the bottom and add this line: user ALL=NOPASSWD: /path/to/Airvpn Replace 'user' with your user name and replace '/path/to/Airvpn' with the complete path to the program. This should allow th...

Re: Eventually will I need a new install?

I started using SolydX in January of 2014. I have updated/upgraded ever since. There has never been a need to reinstall. There has been a couple of minor snags along the way but I was always able to get help right here in this forum.
