Re: Rebooting SolydK Back Office

A bit late perhaps. After reading through the replies I thought how the German government had ordered that all the governmental divisions were to go from closed source to open source, which they finished a few years ago. If they can do it, there might be something to learn from them. Then again, thi...

Java & printing gives an error.

Hello all, I am posting here after trying to get this problem sorted for a few months now. When I print from a (most likely customised) ICEpdf Viewer that comes with some specific software, I get the following error: ICEsoft ICEpdf - Exception There was an error executing your command do (sic!) to t...

Re: Couple issues with April update (FF/TB)

Sorry for the late reply. I had read all this some time ago, but had no time to go into it. I went into administrating Debian as server, working on the CLI and am still very busy with that. The desktop work is fallen a little quiet, I am waiting on some other people before I can pick that up again. ...

First impression of the new ISO is very good.
And Solyd ranks 6th place on Distrowatch http://distrowatch.com/index.php?dataspan=1 for the 7-day period.
Congrats!

Re: Couple issues with April update (FF/TB)

Hello Corey, the more the merrier. Hello John, I advanced up to the connecting via VNC and here I get this 1280x 11520 (!!) 32 bits resolution and my vnc-window is miles long. My guess is someone made a typo somewhere. I have just checked the http://www.karlrunge.com/x11vnc/ website, but that is too...

Re: Couple issues with April update (FF/TB)

Hello John, b3ta, Thanks for this in-dept reply. I am really happy with a reply of someone like you, who knows what administering and supporting entails. I just read/skimmed though the whole text and will go through it, bit by bit, again when I put in practice all the tips you have written down. Or ...

Re: Couple issues with April update (FF/TB)

@zerozero Thanks for the reply. I think boring is good :) Like I said, I need my car to drive, not for cruising the boulevards, showing my bling. So I installed SoldK BE again and did the upgrade via the Update Manager. While doing the upgrade I saw the following, but it was too fast to copy it all....

Re: Couple issues with April update (FF/TB)

Zill, if there is a spot where we could exchange thoughts, other than here, I would love to tell you what I already have read and the questions that I have asked and not got an answer to. Perhaps you can answer some of those questions. In the meantime I wait for a reply from zerozero, or perhaps Sch...

Re: Couple issues with April update (FF/TB)

@Zill, If "the Linux way" is "to fix things", Linux is never going to come out of the <1% corner. "Only for enthusiasts". Some people are car-enthusiasts, be it old-timer or top-notch. They have a yard with a garage , a workshop and if need be, they can even make their own parts . They lovingly work...

Re: Couple issues with April update (FF/TB)

@zerozero. Don't worry, I have been installing and re-installing many times before, looking for something I could put on former XP-users' pc's. I have by now 1 user on SolykBE and I was setting up a next one when this upgrade failure happened. As long as there was no reply, I could try some other th...

Re: Couple issues with April update (FF/TB)

Sorry, I removed everything yesterday. If it helps, I had yesterday installed from the solykbe_201402.iso and then did the upgrade via the manager. The manager was upgraded and then the rest was upgraded after that. If it is of some help, I am willing to do the whole install and upgrade again later ...

How can I re-order the users in the loginscreen?

Hello all, 1 day before the ending of XP ;) I would like to know how the ordering of the users in the loginscreen can be changed. It doesn't look to be part of plymouth, at least that manager can not manage the order.
So where can it be? the setting for the login menu? :?

I have the script, it is the install-script that comes with TeamSpeak.
I just want to know how I can make it run from the GUI.

Re: SolydK BE life system hangs after a few minutes.

I did remove the battery and the powercord for 2 days, so by now the NVR should be empty, I think. And did reload BIOS default settings I swapped the RAM's around and made a bootable DVD to install SolydK BE. After it boots up I see first 3 lines with [ 4.536492] [drm] nouveau 0000:00: 10,0 ======= ...

Re: SolydK BE life system hangs after a few minutes.

Thanks for the replies. @rotyknji: Thanks for the link, I will look into that, trying to reset the NVR or something might fix the HDD not found. Still, it does not give a reason why it would hang after a few minutes. @mistergil: The system is a minitower from fujitsu symens, esprimo P2520, MI3W - D2...

SolydK BE life system hangs after a few minutes.

I am trying to install SolydK BE from an USB stick onto a Fujitsy Siemens PC that currently runs XP. When I ran the Install from the desktop, I saw that the HDD was not found, only the USB key. I did a validation of the install-medium and that was ok. I tried to do a memory check but that was not po...
