Re: Is XFCE on it's last legs?

I agree, you would think people would be lining up to work on a desktop that's been around as long and as widely used as Xfce.

Re: Is XFCE on it's last legs?

Let's face it, like distributions, there are to many DE's popping up. Xfce is one of the all time greats and it's sad that it don't have more people working on it but I don't see it dying, just being slower to get new bells and whistles.

Re: Linux Printer installs

I agree, I know everyone wants to do their own thing and Linux is about freedom but if we could get rid of a few of the pointless destros and bring people together, Linux would be that much better.

Re: Windows KDE Desktop?

I'm really excited about the Ubuntu phone, plan on trying it. Like so many, I left Ubuntu when Unity came along because I was stuck in the old ways of doing stuff. Ubuntu 14.04 changed my mind, people say they should put more time into their desktop but Ubuntu 14.04 is the best version of Ubuntu I h...

Re: SolydXK "Stable" vs LMDE "Stable"

All good points. SolydXK is the main distribution for the team here, if you like KDE or Xfce, SolydXK is the way to go as well. Guess we will have to wait and see just how good of an idea going stable will be.

Re: Editing whisker menu favourites

Do you want to get rid of the programs from your computer all together or just from the favorite bar? If you want to get rid of the programs all together, open up the software center and look them up and Uninstaller. If you just want them out of the favorite menu, just left click on the program and ...

SolydXK "Stable" vs LMDE "Stable"

OK, so from what I understand, LMDE is going to stop using the UP's and base it off from Debian Stable just like SolydXK is going to do. What will make SolydXK better than LMDE? With the UP's, SolydXK did them more often so that was a clear advantage in picking SolydXK over LMDE. They have the big n...

Re: The future of SolydXK

I'm hoping it all works out and SolydXK becomes something truly great. From the start, I have not really liked the new idea of dropping the UP's but I'm willing to give the new SolydXK a fair shake, I love this Distro and I hope everyone else will aleast give it a shot before jumping ship as well, i...

Re: The new Jessie

While I like Xfce, it like KDE, Mate, Cinnamon, and all the rest like them are "old school". Gnome 3, Unity, Deepin, and DE's like them are trying something new. I have to say that the "new school" DE's are starting to grow on me, when I first tried Unity and Gnome 3, I was like a lot of others, set...

Re: The future of SolydXK

This is sad to hear, now its just another Debian clone. The semi-rolling was what made me love SolydX. I had high hopes that this was the one, I hope this all goes well but without the rolling aspect, I don't see how SolydXK will stand out.

This is off topic a little but how many businesses use SolydXK BE? I know a few home users use it but I would like to know if its catching on with businesses yet.

Re: What does Solyd mean, really?

Most of the time, I agree with what Fleabus says, but on this I can't. Its the rolling aspect with the UP system that has made SolydXK as big as it is. If we lose it, I don't think SolydXK will last long. I tried the BE version and while it was great and stable, I did not use it for the same reason ...

Re: What does Solyd mean, really?

I have never had any prob's with upgrades, even the last one went fine for me. I have seen on here that a few had prob's with it but for me it was smooth, so for me anyway, SolydX is very stable. For people who have used Linux for any amount of time, we understand what Debian testing and a rolling d...

Re: Best Linux Desktop: KDE's Plasma

I think the things that Unity, Gnome, and even Cinnamon are doing is pretty cool. KDE can do a lot because its been around forever, I love eye candy and cool effects as much as the next guy but KDE does to much I think. I know a lot of people love KDE but for me I like to be able to do a few cool tr...

Re: LMDE considering switching from testing to stable

I think it will be better for LMDE, they hardly work on it now, at least the few users that still use it will have a stable system, the way they do it now breaks a lot and half the crap don't work. It will be Debian Stable with Cinnamon, sounds nice to me.
