Re: SolydK10 installation failing on computer with multiple drives

No, I don't think that that causes the problem. However, I see that you some disks (sdb, sdc, sdd) do not have a primary partition, only an extended partition. Is that right? If I have time this weekend I'll try to recreate the setup in VB and see if that brings us any further. Yes, that is correct...

Re: SolydK10 installation failing on computer with multiple drives

Just a follow up to my last post. If we can solve this issue soon, I'd love to use SolydK as my main distro. I can't afford to have my desktop out of commission for very long though, so I'm hoping we find a solution asap. Also, regarding the missing partition table message, it seems to be one that n...

Re: SolydK10 installation failing on computer with multiple drives

Please see the screenshot below. Unfortunately I do not have a picture of the partition warning, but it showed up for each of the non-OS drives, cited the drive by string that included the vendor and model, asked to install a partition table on the drive, and warned that the data would be destroyed ...

FWIW, I tried installation using the 202007 iso, and I encountered the same error.

Re: SolydK10 installation failing on computer with multiple drives

Well it does not seem to be fixed, we'd need to know the exact problem first. Nobody else has reported this behaviour as far as I remember. Obviously the installer sees something on your data drives it does not recognise. So we want to know why. Since you say they are EXT4 Windowws can't have anyth...

SolydK10 installation failing on computer with multiple drives

I have tried unsuccessfully to install SolydK10- 201909 from a bootable USB onto my desktop computer that has four hard drives, one for the OS's and the other three for data. I should point out that I am trying to install SolydK as a dual boot with Windows 10, which is on the same hard drive. I crea...

Re: OK not to reformat /home during install?

Thanks for the replies. Online it seems that Linux users are split on reformatting /home. In summary, it seems like reformatting /home is a good idea when switching distros, but it should not present much of a problem to leave it unformatted (saving all your config files) if you are upgrading the sa...

OK not to reformat /home during install?

I currently run SolydK-8 with separate root, /home and /Data partitions. (The /Data partitions are soft linked to my home directory.) Would there be any problems if I do a clean install of SolydK-9 on my root directory without reformatting my /home directory? I have some third party and proprietary ...

Sorry for the false alarm. I removed and re-installed updatemanager from the command line and all is well again. Cheers.

Updatemanager broken during update -SOLVED

This morning after booting up my deskop I noticed that updatemanager was indicating an update was available. It turned out to be an update to updatemanager 3.1.0. I started the update and received a dpkg error. When I closed the error window, updatemanager disappeared from my dock. I tried to start ...

Re: apt-get update error

Thank you very much for your help. I'm sorry you ran into issues trying to reply to my post. Based on these issues, I decided to install a fresh 64-bit SolydX system on this machine. It's still updating from the original iso install, but so far so good. If I run into problems, I'll be back! This is ...

Re: apt-get update error

No joy. See below. The hash sum mismatch usually occurs if you happen to update at the moment the repository itself is updating. It should disappear by itself. If it doesn't, try a mirror. E.g. in sources.list, use ftp. cc .debian.org instead of ftp.debian.org, replacing cc with the country code rel...

apt-get update error

I am trying to update/upgrade the SolydX installation on my father-in-law's laptop to the new Jessie base. I first ran into an error with the update manager saying it had no internet connection, when the computer in fact had a connection (could reach web pages, etc.). After consulting these forums, ...

Re: Digikam 4.1 freezes and crashes

Didn't SolydK offer some versions of digikam between 2.6 and the current 4.1? I seem to remember that.

Thanks for the clarification re: backports.

Re: Digikam 4.1 freezes and crashes

Digikam 4.4 should fix the Flickr upload problem, but I don't expect it to fix the mysql freezing problem (which is the more serious bug that is stopping me in my tracks). That patch wasn't committed until version 4.5. I was considering switching to Linux Mint 17.1, but that is at Digikam 4.3.5, whi...

Digikam 4.1 freezes and crashes

Digikam is one of the major applications I use, and I have been frustrated lately in getting the latest version (4.1.0) in the Solyd repositories to work. Specifically, the program crashes if I try to set it up with an SQLite database (which may be an SQLite issue, according to the Digikam forums). ...

Re: SOLVED: nVidia driver and kernel issue, unable to enumer

Thank you, ScottQuier! I followed the instructions in your linked post , and everything is working now! The new kernel, new driver, no USB error at bootup. Those instructions were really well done. The only change I made was to use the graphical DDM to install the new graphics driver after manually ...

Re: nVidia driver and kernel issue, unable to enumerate USB

For uninstalling the currently installed Nvidia driver, this might be what you are looking for --> http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2908 Installing the new driver - there are steps in that link that might/should work with your card/driver. I have an older card and they still work for me...
