Re: Update Manager not starting

My updatemanager does still not run, however...

if I type "updatemanager --force" in a terminal it runs.

I did this from a prompt in the textfile /usr/bin/updatemanager that said updatemanager cannot run in a live environment.

Any ideas how I make this run without "--force"?

Re: Dropbox icon disappears on taskbar

You are correct, I have had a trawl and an older pre V3 version is not easily available.
I have posted a question on the Dropbox Forum about this issue so as to at least register the problem.

Re: Dropbox icon disappears on taskbar

Yes thanks for that, I found a thread here:-

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=190940&p=2

It appears that it is not an Xfce issue and other DE's are affected too.
Now how to downgrade or ride out till a fix update?

Dropbox icon disappears on taskbar [Solved]

My dropbox icon disappears from the task bar when compositing is enabled. This is a recent change, it has been there prior to today. I use "compton" as the compositor, however if I disable this and run the Xfce compositor I get the same result. Running without isn't the end of the world, I just wond...

However I managed to use alacarte (main-menu) to un-tick all entries of software-manager and now only one appears.

Re: Thunar File delete does not use Trash

I now see the right click it is on the "devices" name. Yes wastebasket is ticked. I didn't know this menu option existed. t0psy: The XFCE Wiki advises... Can I disable the trash? No, you can not. But you can do for example: 1. use 'SHIFT + del' to bypass the trash bin and immediately delete somethin...

Re: Thunar File delete does not use Trash

t0psy: Right-click on the "panel" at the bottom of the screen and, using the "Add new menu items" option, add the "Trash Applet" (or possibly "Wastebasket Applet" according to your locale). This should then show the familiar "trash can" at the bottom of the screen. See if it contains items you have...

[Solved] Thunar File delete does not use Trash

When I delete a file using Thunar it does not go to the Trash/Wastebasket. My Wastebasket icon is always empty. I have 2 systems and both behave identically. I have Xubuntu installed on another computer and the "Rubbish Bin" as it is called behaves how I would expect. Is SolydX configured to bypass ...

Re: Update Manager problem

I too am having problems running UM on one of my machines. It runs fine on the other, both have received the recent update pack. From the info I have discovered so far, UM is included to give the process of updating a manageable slick front end. It appears to provides no function as far as I can see...

Re: [Solved] Some software removed post UP and now uninstala

Thanks fo your explanation Zerozero on some differences between these 2 package managers.
I will use apt as a general rule and only resort to aptitude if things go pear shaped.

Re: [Solved] Some software removed post UP and now uninstala

Yes it also fixed gnome-do for me. http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4858 I ran "sudo aptitude" and followed the on screen prompts I had to press u and g and return was as complicated as it got. So I wonder what powers "aptitude" has that appears to have fixed my system that "apt-get" can...
