Re: Solyd vs. Mageia

Cant compare anything to debian. You could build one using live-build and retire for life. Back in 2004-5, I was in heaven with Mandrake Linux. No distro nor Mac could come close to KDE 3.x Although a new distro compared to debian, Arch is second to follow in terms of overall quality. But when it co...

Re: Reverting to the Nouveau drivers

Nouveau is fantastic with kernel 3.16.x.
Governor is working and card is super cool. Fan is working great too.
I've had no problems nor crashes with any DE and compositor.

Blender wont work though, obviously. Lets see how far they go with this reverse engineering stuff. So far so good.

Re: Starting Python development

In my quest to learn/develop stuff using python/glade, this topic has the most practical resource around. With gnome 3.12 the tutorial from gnipsel.com is a bit dated but still noob and intermediate friendly and will help you become an expert. Most are aware some stuff from 3.8 may not work with 3.1...

Re: Adding usb wireless Edimax EW-7811Un

If it is seen and greyed out --- but can you see the wifi networks?? Maybe you might need to enter your wpa password for the network. Im assuming that you have blacklisted the old driver to load at startup, nonetheless run the below command again and then reboot to be sure.... sudo echo "blacklist r...

Re: ATI proprietary driver gives black screen(UP gives no ic

Remove the ati fglrx driver completely. Install nonfree drivers: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install firmware-linux-nonfree reboot. You wont get the aticonfig/amdconfig command(you may not even need it-unless you want to overclock your fan/gpu) but you will have a stable working environment. yo...
