Re: [Solved] Sudden Loud Volume (After Recent UP)

Yeah. I knew I needed a fix for this issue when opening a link and suddenly "Lifestalker" from Cattle Decapitation started blasting out. Considering it's 1:45 am here and there are old people in this building, I'd be lucky to come out of this with only a migraine :P.

Clementine as Default Music Player

Heya folks!! Evil-K's back, and this time, SOMEONE'S GOT TO PAY!!!!! Nah, not really  Long time, no see everyone! Nice to see that the forum has grown so huge in my absence (doing both work and school full time will do that). Anyhoo, onto the point of this post.... (I did a search and didn't se...

Re: NVIDIA GT-610 Goes Low-Res on SolydK 64-bit

I decided to test out a theory. Basically, I started over from scratch, opting to put SolydK on an external hard drive. I got a new monitor and a DVI cable and installed the NVIDIA driver. Works like a charm now. So basically, to anyone who is having the problem I was having, it may be worth your wh...

It became necessary, and the fix didn't work.

Re: NVIDIA GT-610 Goes Low-Res on SolydK 64-bit

Thank you for your prompt response, zz. I'm sorry that I neglected to mention that the resolution problems start after rebooting (after installing the drivers). I was able to verify that my software was up to date, and that I'm running the latest kernel. I'll also mention that I haven't installed an...

NVIDIA GT-610 Goes Low-Res on SolydK 64-bit

I've only seen one mention of this on a thread that is about something else, so I'm going to give it its own topic, since I'm having this problem. I've just recently installed (and reinstalled) SolydK 64-bit on my newly built Monster (short for "LeBlancenstein's Monster") with an EVGA GeForce (NVIDI...

The beast is ALIVE!!!

I have successfully taken the innards out of my old PC which, incidentally, originally ran Windows 95 back in the day, and put in an ASUS Sabertooth motherboard, 8 GB of RAM, and an AMD FX-8320 8-core processor, among other things. I'll give you the full schematic when I'm done updating, as well as ...

Re: Not the greatest of reviews

I actually find Kaddy's reviews fairly accurate, and I don't find his.... "colorful" language... objectionable. What I gleaned from his drunken Aussie gibberish was that he genuinely wants to see SolydK get better, and I do agree that SolydXK could stand for a little more visual "zazz". And I've bee...

Re: linux spatry's review of Solydxk

The only inaccuracy I could find regarding Spatry's review was that he mentioned that GParted was included with SolydK. Clearly, he wasn't basing this on an actual install because GParted goes away after a full-install. It's too bad, really; I prefer it to KDE's partitioning tool, which I find somew...

Re: UP 2013.09.06 06:00 UTC [PRODUCTION]

For some reason, the NVIDIA drivers won’t install through DDM after the update. I’ve also changed the repos as per your instructions in the blog. I did use Synaptic to try and install the drivers that way, but it went to the lowest resolution and, for some reason, prevented me from connecting to my ...

Re: Arch Linux

So when I got my new-to-me laptop (Dell Latitude D630, Core2Duo processor, 2 GB RAM, 1 TB HD) and was having a heck of a time getting SolydK to work on it (issues with the graphics card and the wireless), I ended up running Manjaro with Xfce for a time. My verdict is that it's really, really good. H...

Re: Synaptic not opening on SolydX

So it turns out it was an issue with the Desktop Style that I had selected. Looks like some GNOME themes cause problems with Xfce, not surprisingly. It was simply an experiment gone awry, I guess.

I'll mark this as [SOLVED] :)

[SOLVED] Synaptic not opening on SolydX

Run into a bizarre problem with Synaptic on my recent switch to SolydX (my new-to-me laptop was running too hot on SolydK). When I try to start up Synaptic with the regular menu, the Whisker menu (LOVE IT!), Docky, or Synapse, it won't work. It'll just flash a dialog box for a millisecond and then n...
