Re: Multiple monitors on different adapters

1. When trying to connect all tree monitors on the Asus EAH5770 i get a cloned view for a few seconds and then it crashes. I found that this an hardware limitation of this card! So it won't work no matter what i try, good, now i can focus on getting 2x on the 5770 + 1x on the Intel igp. 2. It appear...

Re: How Do I Recover Parititons?

I'm hoping to avoid a complete HD wipe and reinstall but if I have to, I'll do it. Just would be easier if I could just merge those partitions back (in other words format partitions and add those partitions to existing ones to add more space to existing partitions). If i'm understanding you correct...

Re: Multiple monitors on different adapters

however, i am getting a tingle over the fact it doesnt get your resolution right. sounds to me like there is some confusion at a hardware level.... but it being the VGA, this could just be a lark. FYI, i did try the official AMD drivers offered in the Device Driver Manager and with those i could se...

Re: Multiple monitors on different adapters

Yes it works right out of the box on Windows and to my surprise even on ubuntu 14.04 so it's only a matter of finding out what they do differently :P Today i received and HDMI to DVI adapter so as of now all the monitors are connected to my radeon card, but the system literally crashes if i try to p...

Multiple monitors on different adapters

Hi Running SolydK 64bit, i got two monitors on my Radeon 5770 card, those i have no problem configuring using either Display settings or Catalyst. I'm trying to get my triple monitor setup working but don't know where to begin, hopefully we can sort it out :) fwiw this third monitor is an "old" 32" ...

Re: HOWTO: Move /home to second HDD

Thanks for putting this together, worked like a charm, i'm definiely bookmarking :) Only had to do minor changes to a couple steps in there : sudo cp -a /oldHomeWeek /home This created /home/oldHomeWeek which isn't what we want, just like step 13 mentions, make sure that your data is in /home/userna...

Re: Grub Install Choice (EFI Machine)

I tried installaing grub on /sdc1 yesterday but no dice, it would boot in grub rescue everytime.

Finally deleted the boot partition i was trying to use and installed grub to /sdc, that worked.

That isn't the ranking just recent announcement and news of updates. The view ranking is down the page on the right where it shows us at 38. Which we have been 37 or 38 last 5 weeks or so. . Was just poiting out that it's sitting pretty on the front page of website with good traffic :) (hence the u...

Re: High memory usage

going by my personal experiences, your screenshots are showing where the problem lies: firefox. It appears as you were right :) I closed my usual, heavily crowded session and it's been running great ever since. Doing multiple tasks, running a VM, watching a vid, all that good stuff and no sign of a...

Re: multi-monitor blackout after disconnect from docking sta

Is your laptop's screen set as the primary output and it's position as "Absolute"? (see screen shot) Also at the bottom of the window did you set it as Save as default? If it doesn't work, maybe try to set the single display config as the Default so that it will revert to that when you disconnect fr...

Re: High memory usage

Thanks for the post Orbmiser, those articles did a good job of driving the point home in that head of mine. 1) I am not, since i'm still setting up sync and documenting what i need to do to get up and running quickly again if something goes wrong, but the update is available and i'll be updating soo...

Re: High memory usage

OK guys, it appears someone is not quite clear on what they are reading. You are quite right, i have to admit i'm overwhelmed with everything that i have to learn about linux, i wish i started as a kid :) The "used" number i would say is generally within the range that i'd expect it to be, for inst...

Re: High memory usage

a small thing that may also be causing you concerns is in free -m you will see that the disk caching uses a ton of memory... look to the right of that and see what's really available... basically, caching calls "dibs" on memory, but doesnt really use it. I think you're onto something there, i've be...

Re: High memory usage

Interesting, the memory output of inxi shows 2gb used which should be closer to the actual value. I don't have much running, ~10 firefox tabs, steam, quassel, basket notes, amarok, skype... Yet firefox still becomes slow/unresponsive. i.e: i'll click in a textbox or dropbox and it'll take a few seco...

Hello fellow SolydK users Is anyone else experiencing high memory usage issues? I have to reboot a couple times a day at the moment and it's preventing me to use my system for it's full potential which is a shame :/ I'm new to linux and not sure how to go about troubleshooting the issue, any help ap...
