Re: Odd mouse pointer behaviour

This might sound silly, but have you tried logging out and back in? I've had the same issue in the past with both cursors and icons, and doing a quick log out always fixed the issue.

Re: SolydXK Community Edition Ideas

I flipping love the idea of more medical related CEs!! I have a heart condition that has turned me from an active outdoors man into a disabled, home bound, see how badly I can break my computer man and having more releases direct towards healthcare (especially cardiac related) would make m...

Re: kwinn and/or ompiz

I've used Kwin on XFCE on another distro and found it many times more stable than Compiz, which seems to not be as supported as Kwin is. If you go to YouTube Spatry did a whole series on Kwin on XFCE (Manjaro), also Michael Moore did a video detailing how to set KWIN up on a non-KDE DTE. Sorry, but ...

Re: kdenext going to be dropped

Reverting to Debian-KDE is one of the decisions the SolydXK team made, and will make, to comply to our business mission . All team discussions, and resulting decisions, are strategic of nature, and hardly ever technological. The team proposes any questions to the community as long as the question i...

Re: kdenext going to be dropped

I like cutting edge just as much as the next guy, but given the choice between stability and bling, I'll take stability every time. KDE is a great DE, in fact it's my go to desktop for every distro I've been on, yes I've had issues with it; my system has been borked because of some freak bug that wo...

Re: A new email provider please

I use two e-mail address, Outlook for personal things, and Gmail for junk.
I also us MaskMe to hide my address so that if a database were to ever get compromised with my e-mail in it all they would have is the MaskMe address which can easily be disconnected and disposed of.

Re: Your First Linux Distro?

My absolute first distrobution was Knoppix which I used on a live usb to do banking and other confidential things, that was two or three years ago. Now my first full time distro was Ubuntu 12.04 which I used for a month or so until I discovered Mint and did my first of many hops. 8-)

Re: Flickering at startup

My confuser does the same thing, but I haven't noticed and degradation in resolution, or any other ill affects so I just live with it. Every Linux distro has it's quarks, this seems to be one of SolydXK's, which is cool with me because every other distro I've had to the flashy thingy would crash. :s...

Re: SolydX is amazing!

I couldn't agree more, though I would go a bit further and say that SolydXK is the one distro to rule them all...seriously, Sauron and his toy ring have nothing on SolydXK.

Re: Hello from....

Hi PopeBishop, and welcome to our forum! That was a fun to read introduction. You would never guess, but before I started the Unofficial LMDE KDE (which started this all), I just tried a handful of distros. So, I will need your hopping experience on this forum ;) Thanks for the welcome! I'm the typ...

Re: So what's your take on Manjaro?

Manjaro was my first "hop" into a non Debian based OS, and I must say I was very impressed, BUT there were issues. I'm not one to stick with one desktop and since Manjaro offers so many "flavors" I had to try them all (Baskin Robbins style). I found XFCE and Openbox to be the best, while KDE to be t...

Re: Show your Desktop Screenshots

Here's my desktop, it's nothing to write home about, but it's pure perfection to me; clutter free and stable. Of course I have all the pretty effects activated; DT Cube (with 6 workspaces), wobbly windows, auto hide side bar, ect. As for the wallpaper, well...I don't know, it just speaks to me :) ht...

Re: Hello from....

Yep Welcome to SolydK and I gave Manjaro KDE a whirl last month. But just didn't click all the way with me like SolydK does. And still like to try out distro. So use Redo Backup and back up my / and /home then install and try other distro's. But after a day or three I get twitchy & itchy all over t...

Hello from....

my little corner of the internet, I'm the Pope (no not that pope, though I would be interesting if Pope Francis haunted Linux forums). I've been a Linux user for a little over a year now spending the vast majority of that time "distro hopping" from one to another, using thus far around 30 different ...
