Re: New Kid on the Linux Block Delivers Rock-Solid Performan

Oops! My fault.
I always go straight to the forum.
Since, I could not find anything under the new messages in the forum I posted it here.
I have to admit that I am also very enthusiastic about it.

New Kid on the Linux Block Delivers Rock-Solid Performance

SolydXK: New Kid on the Linux Block Delivers Rock-Solid Performance Young doesn't always mean immature. Offering both Xfce and KDE as desktop options, SolydXK is not only polished and fast, but its desktop choices deliver solid computing power and convenience without being clones of other Linux dis...

Re: SolydXK 2013-06 in the news

I just checked:
Measured over the last seven days, SolydXK is even on place 8 on Distrowatch.
That is right in front of OpenSUSE !!!
How cool is that! 8-)

Re: Recursive globbing and searching with bash globstar

@Schoelje: Before I forget, here is something more to really pimp your shell. Imagine doing this; retrieving the history of visited directories in BASH: :ugeek: lotzmana@safe$ cd work lotzmana@safe$ cd scripts lotzmana@safe$ pwd /home/petarma/work/scripts lotzmana@safe$ cd -- 0 ~/work/scripts 1 ~/wo...

Recursive globbing and searching with bash globstar

Here is something really cool that I recently discovered: At the same time, this is a petition for having `shopt -s globstar` enabled in SolydXK by default, in line with our easy-to-use herald.

Re: Quidsup reviews SolydX

Yep, the difficulty he experienced with mounting samba/cifs drives is very to the point.
Since SolydXK aims to be simple to use, we need to do something about that, even more so for new users gradually leaving from Windows.

I will come back shortly with more information towards a solution.

Re: Please, help translating!

In the mean time, I have also started experimenting with virtaal instead of poedit.
It does the same as poedit, but it is far more polished and one can circumvent the extremely long wait.
(If it were not for you, I long would have killed the poedit process! :| )

Re: Please, help translating!

@Schoelje: Thank you for this nice explanation about using poedit! Incidentally, we share the same mother tongue. So I guess, I will have not much translating to do for SolydXK. On the other hand, thanks to your post, I started contributing Dutch translations to a LaTeX project. Which is also great!...

Re: Victim of our own success

@Schoelje: Could you specify ... The amount of disk space you need? The estimated amount of monthly traffic? Whether you would accept some advertising for the hosting company in return (e.g. at the download page)? I will not promise anything, but I will talk to a senior manager of a local hosting co...

Something else quite important to keep in mind:

MySQL vulnerability allows attackers to bypass password verification

In other words: Make sure to ship the patched version of MySQL!
