Re: How to mount /home and /var in a usb memory?

Create different partitions on the USB stick and then use the correct UUID for each partition in fstab instead of /dev/sd1/folder. EDIT: If you have RAM to spare you can for example mount parts of /var there. Obviously this will wipe your logs and such after a power loss. tmpfs /var/spool tmpfs defa...

Re: Need Advise on a good linux based video recording progra

Vokoscreen is my goto for screen recording, not the prettiest GUI but it does the job.

Re: New MAC address when computer wakes up from sleep

After doing an update and upgrade yesterday to inlcude the new stuff (http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=5095&start=40#p50413). During the installation of one packet I got a question if I wanted to generate a new MAC when waking up from sleep. I have no idea what packaged that was though,...

Re: New MAC address when computer wakes up from sleep

Oh yeah the system works very well. I'm mostly asking out of curiosity as I've never experienced anything like this before.

New MAC address when computer wakes up from sleep

My computer changes MAC address after being woken from sleep. I'm running SolydK64 Home Edition but I recently changed repos from testing to jessie to include the new theme and to get in sync with the "nightly" iso builds. The update went well, at least I thought so, until I ran into this issue. Har...

Re: webcam trouble

For skype try:

Code: Select all

Exec=/usr/bin/env PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30 /usr/bin/skype
Sadly, I cannot help you with the webcam issue

Re: UP 2014.10.15

Upgraded my desktop machine (Intel NUC D54250WYKH with SolydK x64). Started with the update manager but something broke halfway and it didn't download all the packages (I'm guessing the repo is getting hammered so I timed out). I ran the pre-up script just in case, did an apt-get install -f. Then ap...

Re: skype

You can try and download the Debian multiarch install file from the skype homepage. sudo dpkg -i skype.deb It will complain that some files could not be installed, so run the following. sudo apt-get install -f Skype should now have installed correctly. I also had sound issues with skype but if I lau...

Installing on a raid (with mdadm)

Thanks to this thread: http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=748 where jericho pointed me in the right direction I was able to install SolydK on a mdadm created raid0. I've now written a little more in depth guide for it and put together a video. The guide: Start gparted and create one ext2 p...

Re: Installation on a RAID 0

I've managed to come quite far in this process but I really need some help! I took most of what was shown in the LMDE installation video but tweaked it a bit and these are the steps I've been taking: gparted - create one ext2 partition with 512Mb for /boot -create empty partitions without formatting...
