Re: SolydXK-9 RC2: testing upgrade, ISOs, changes and more

Inxi output below, please note the partition info is irrelevant as I am not currently running SolydX at the moment. The ISO I downloaded was the solydX_9_64_2-1707.iso the sha254 checked out ok. mit@rhea:~$ inxi -Fzx System: Host: rhea Kernel: 4.8.0-1-amd64 x86_64 (64 bit gcc: 5.4.1) Desktop: Xfce 4...

Re: SolydXK-9 RC2: testing upgrade, ISOs, changes and more

Unfortunately after writing my earlier post I noticed another issue, my system was very slower than normal and using high CPU usage. I run gkrellm system monitor and since the reinstall it was only displaying one CPU. I had not worried about it earlier just put it down to be a configuration issue wh...

Re: SolydXK-9 RC2: testing upgrade, ISOs, changes and more

I have come across a couple little oddities after having to reinstall because I broke my install On a couple of occasions my monitor resolution was incorrectly set at 1920 x 1200 rather than the correct 1920 x 1080. The main issue with this was that when it happened on the live disc it present the u...

Re: Veracrypt

OK to answer my own post, it seems as though I did not install it from the debian repos, I found the relevant install files on my backup and have successfully installed it on to SolydX9 and can open my encrypted folder. Thinking that I had lost my encrypted folder did not do a lot for my already sha...

Last night I ungraded to SolydX 9 which unfortunately went badly pear shaped, nothing to do with SolydX, more to do with upgrading late at night when you are tired (formatted the wrong partitions :o ) Anyway I am thankful for the back up I run daily on my home partition and I am slowly rebuilding th...

Re: Logging off

As far as I can tell I don't have Power management running I have had issues with the screensaver in the past but in those case's it just locked the PC up and had to do a hard reboot via the on\off button These were the only signiicant logs I found I think this might be significant, bit from my .xse...

Logging off

My PC runs 24\7 and over the last few days I have noticed that when I am a way from the PC for more that about 7.5 hrs (like overnight) I am being logged off. Other than changing my repos to point at stretch as this is a EE install. All I have to do is enter my password and I am back in again, the P...

Re: What to do?

Thanks for the info. I have adjusted my source list to have stretch rather than testing for now. I thought this would be the route to take.

Once the new EE is released I intend to do a complete reinstall

Regards

Upgrading EE from Stretch to Buster

With Stretches impending release on Saturday (17th) what is the correct procedure regarding updates, is it best not to do any updates until the new SolydXK EE version is released or is it better to hack your repo list to point at stretch?

Re: wicd applet

I have used WIcd many years ago (not on SolydXK), first you had to complete remove Netowork Manager then install WiCD. At the time Wicd was far superior in handling Wifi connection. I have not had any issue with network manager (for Wifi connections) but then again I only tried it on an old laptop b...
