Re: Browser alternatives to replace firefox - Waterfox?

Running Pale Moon v28.2.2 now as main browser in both Windows and Linux. MUCH improved compatibility from v27. Pretty stable now too 28.2+. Flushing memory with Lull The Tabs extension helps. Feels modern despite 2008-2010 laptops.

Re: Browser alternatives to replace firefox - Waterfox?

I'm on the same quest, for something to replace Firefox pre-57 in Windows and Linux. Running Basilisk Mar21 version (the last one based on FF53+) very successfully at present with tweaks for E10s, but their latest versions revert back to FF52ESR base and strip out some code; I've had less luck with ...

Re: SolydK9 32-bit slow

Meant to say:
I do wish I had the last 32-bit ISO for SolydX 8 (201701?). Is that still available? (I'm still updating, successfully it seems, from 201506).

Re: SolydK9 32-bit slow

"I would keep updating SolydX8." Thanks. I guess I'll do that but keep the SolydX 9 32-bit ISO's handy for attempting the next chapter on the Atom netbook. The SolydX 9 live USB seems to work really well on my HP laptops of the same 2008-2010 vintage (HP 6730b and HP dm3-3011nr). I do wish I had the...

Re: SolydK9 32-bit slow

I'm wondering about the same issue for SolydX. SolydX 8 32-bit pae runs fairly well on my HP mini 110-1050nr (Atom N270 processor, 2GB RAM). SolydX 9 32-bit, live USB session, feels sluggish by comparison, even to SolydX 8 live USB. Is it possible to install SolydX 9, but restore the older kernel? O...

printer icon in panel (SolydX): fix or remove?

Running SolydX, I have Brother's MFC-7820N printer/scanner working well in network mode using Brother-provided debian drivers. A minor annoyance is the printer icon (pic of printer with small settings gear) which appears in the panel notification area when I print a job. It remains during the entire...

Re: Session Type after SolydX update

I'm reinstalling to take full advantage of the testing the SolydXK team is doing. I'll try to be more careful not to introduce new sources "willy nilly".

Re: Session Type after SolydX update

Scott, Thanks! I must have added the debian testing source in my search for a viable Netflix solution So the Update Manager picks up on whatever sources are active, not just the Solydx sources? Should I just remove that and wait for the SolydX repos to catch up (or surpass)? I'm not seeing any probl...

Session Type after SolydX update

(my first post; pls strip off this first line and re-bin in category as appropriate) I am LOVING SolydX Home Edition (with LibreOffice replacing Abiword+Gnumeric as only changes so far)! Worked first time out of the box (201405) including wifi driver (which is a PITA in other distros for the Broadco...
