Re: Updatemanager (3.0.3) --allow-downgrades is not understood

An approximation for the command I want is next one: dpkg-query --search 'adjust.py' solydxk-system: /usr/lib/solydxk/system/adjust.py However: what happens if package is not correctly installed ? Handy command in these cases would be useful for troubleshooting. Thank you for additional commands :id...

Hello! Thank you Zill... for asking the right question! :-) - That *solydxk-system* package was not installed: I assume it was somehow erroneously removed in the past :?: - I immediately re-installed it yesterday... installed automatically some other packages, etc. - Rebooted, etc, re-installed upda...

Re: Updatemanager (3.0.3) --allow-downgrades is not understood

Hello :-) Thank you Schoelje! for your reply - I had already tried that removal 1-2 months ago... and it did not work. I decided to uninstall 'updatemanager' as it is not performing its function anymore. - I have tried to install back 'updatemanager' *today* and it fails... again: # apt-get install ...

Re: [pseudo-Solved] Kernel 3.16 in SolydX 32bits Jessie

Grizzler: Thank you very much for your generosity :-) This attitude in forum is one of the things I like of SolydXK! About the kernel: The weird detail in this case is that... kernel 3.14-2 "pae" (dual CPU)... - ...used to work like a charm before upgrading (easy to verify with gnome-system-monitor)...

Re: Kernel 3.16 in SolydX 32bits Jessie

UPDATE: This is only informative, no solution is required: I have "dist-upgraded" to Jessie another 32 bit SolydX laptop and behaviour was very similar to previous desktop. Apparently without issues, except for the dpkg-divert / remove in artwork pacjkages, easy to fix once known. Relevant details: ...

Re: Unable to shutdown [edited]

Well, I went bravely forward with ... # apt-get dist-upgrade ...a bit afraid of GRUB-PC questions (in fact, I think a question YES/NO is shown incorrectly, but not dangerous)... and finally SUCCESS, the system is updated 100% (well, I think so) :D # apt-get -s dist-upgrade Reading package lists... D...

Re: Unable to shutdown [edited]

Zill: Thank you for your help as well !! Clarification: Yes, I have used dist-upgrade without the "s" : apt-get dist-upgrade ... at least in 2 iterations for really upgrading (instead of simulating). But they have failed with no clear output for me (assorted and long but I think lots of dpkg errors ...

Re: Unable to shutdown [edited]

Update: About "diversion" (solydx-artwork ERROR above). Googling I have found these commands: I dont know the meaning, but it seems packages mutually tied through someway: For listing "diversion". Examples: # dpkg-divert --list # dpkg-divert --list solydx-artwork # dpkg-divert --list lmdexfce-artwor...

Re: Unable to shutdown [edited]

Hello, I have tried all this several times (with and without synaptics) and no way to upgrade to a functioning system In one of those iterations (always recovering from backup): a) apt-get -s dist-upgrade (without the "s" ) --> fails b) apt-get -s -f install (without the "s" ) --> fails At this mome...

Re: Unable to shutdown [edited]

Thank you for your attention.

Correction: "apt-get -s dist-upgrade" is the command I have been using (fortunately :-) )
i.e "dist-upgrade", never "upgrade" (always using in history)

Said that... dist-upgrade is failing :-( I'm trying to understand why.
Recovered backup and repeating process... yet

Thank you ALL for your kind replies! Yes, my target is to finally get 100% upgraded... including systemd.
