Re: After UP, Can't Extract Password Protected ZIPs

Possible work around: Xarchiver works reasonably well, and keeps you in the graphical environment.

I also use an e-mail client (Thunderbird). Also, with regard to the discussion about Terminal, I share Zerozero's perspective (is this an age thing?) and support his request to keep the Terminal available under Favorites (Thanks Schoelje!). However, I invariably place a Root Terminal (Root Konsole) ...

Follow-up Until now, nothing that I tried worked consistently on my lenovo T430s, except disabling desktop effects. And, I will admit, it was starting to get on my nerves. Hmmm, I've seen enough problems discussed in SolydXK's forums caused by people adding ppa repositories to their sources list.

I pass.

Too bad, too.

Re: So What drives You Up the Wall?

Back off the coffee Dr G. :D Wish I had that excuse. Nah, it's just the end of another semester. So many opportunities... lost. Frustration is a way of life for academics. Uptight today cuz elections are over in my one horse town. City Council is useless/afeared. City Manager is heartless/out for h...

Re: So What drives You Up the Wall?

People that won't take 5 or 10mins to learn something new about their computers. But will spend hours re-hasing,re-tweeting,re-posting same old info on their facebook. And friends then expect me to fix their computers in 2 mins so they can go back to blindly click on things again. Ahhh, that was on...

Ah, shoot. So much for the easy solution. Perhaps it might help others, but I suspected it was too simple a solution to help more than a limited few.

Re: Graphical problems

Ok, this borders on the weird. I updated Firefox to 29.0.1 and, after some mild testing, it appears that my graphical issue has been solved. I will report back if I ever get out of the Twilight Zone, but as of right now, if you have an intel display card that has been having issues with Soly...

Re: SolydK_201405 issues

Seems like quite a few Intel users are getting bit by this bug. Possible work-around (until Debian can get the issue resolved): I suggest disabling desktop effects in kde. 1. System Settings > Desktop Effects > General 2. Remove the check by "Enable desktop effects at startup" It's a kludge solution...

Re: [Solved] Graphics complaints with x.org 1.15.0 or OpenGL

Many thanks for drawing my attention to the update. However, the end result was a further regression. Artifacts across the top of the screen, and a keyboard that, while recognized when logging in with my password, disappeared once in kde. Fortunately, kde has the backup xrender system. I shall conti...

Re: Graphical problems

Or, perhaps not. I've had screen corruption problems since the update, combined with Firfox instability issues. Most of the problems appear to have been solved by uninstalling firefox-solydkxk-adjustments (which removed adblock plus) and adding the firefox extension adblock edge. The screen corrupti...
