Re: SUDO issue

...the units restarted in root... If I understand correctly, you login as root after which the graphical environment (Xfce in your case) is started. If that is the case, that might explain why you have problems. The graphical environment and the graphical programs are made to be used as a normal us...

Re: Empty Notifications Panel

I'm sorry I cannot reproduce that. If I copy a large file (an ISO) to my NAS the notification icon shows the progress. Application developers decide whether or not to use the notification icon.

apt-transport-https was missing the trailing 's'. I've updated the OP, the rest is still valid.

SolydX RPi3 64-bit 201903 release

This image has been fully updated and many bugs have been resolved. Still, SolydX RPi3 64-bit is following Debian buster and as this is current testing it will have some bugs that need attention. Firefox ESR has been replaced with Chromium because of a known bug which causes Firefox ESR to segfault....

Re: Installation

They are only created when no partitions are present on the target hard drive. Usually, a hard drive contains at least one partition but when you create a virtual machine, the virtual drive contains no partitions. The live installer does not assume it can create its own partitions when a partition i...

Re: Old Man user

Hi Don,

Welcome to our forums. I see that you're getting help with your genealogy program. If you find a good alternative on Linux, perhaps you will see no further use of Windows ;)

I hope you're going to enjoy SolydXK for a long time and do not hesitate to come back here if you need any help.

March's configuration changes

For the past few days I've been updating some configuration packages. I'm working on an updated image of SolydX RPi3 but found that Firefox ESR segfaults on arm64. This is a known bug and unfortunately hasn't got a high priority for Mozilla. So, I decided to replace Firefox ESR with Chromium on the ...

Re: APT error messages encountered for Stretch SolydK x86_64

I reinstalled solydk-system-adjustments-9 with sudo and as su. You can see that QStandardPaths shows two different messages: solydxk@solydxk:~$ apt reinstall solydk-system-adjustments-9 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done 0 upgraded, 0 newly insta...

Re: APT error messages encountered for Stretch SolydK x86_64

I think you get this message: QStandardPaths: wrong ownership on runtime directory /run/user/1000, 1000 instead of 0 because you ran the upgrade as su instead of as a user with sudo. I don't know what triggers this message but I suspect python in this case. However, I see the upgrade finished despit...

It shouldn't. Like I said: I cannot reproduce that.
I suspect there was a glitch with the geoipupdate server, but I cannot confirm that.

Re: live installer freezing

I cannot reproduce that.

Did you verify your download before you tried to run the ISO?

If you did, you can try to disable your internet connection before you run the Live Installer.

Solid Privacy

Today I came across this site: https://solid.inrupt.com Obviously, I like the name :D but I also like its philosophy to decentralize data and let the user be the sole owner of his/her data. Solid empowers users and organizations to separate their data from the applications that use it. It allows peo...

Re: SolydXK 201902 released

I just installed SolydX 201902. Just one glitch : I have a few more partitions then / and /home. The installer worked just fine, but it didn't keep the «labels» I entered. I had to correct that after the installation (gparted). And I noted that, as I gave my custom mount points, my partitions were ...

SolydXK 201902 released

The new 201902 ISOs were released. These are some of the highlights: The Live Installer will update itself when starting. It should show its update progress but sometimes it takes a while before it shows. The Live Installer now supports f2fs and nilfs2 file systems for flash drives. Wiki f2fs: https...

Odd...I resized a SolydX live session in VB without issues. Everything was resized while changing the window size of VB.
