Re: SolydXK 10 Preview and Testing

I just installed on an older computer, non EFI. Both HDDs were empty to start with. Boot stick was created with USB creator - as usual install on the stick hang and I had to do a repair run on the stick. Bootup went without problem (after convincing the mainboard to see the stick). I'm working on t...

Re: SolydXK 10 Preview and Testing

@tek10
For the time being, I've uploaded mugshot from sid to our repostory. I haven't tested it, though.

Code: Select all

apt update; apt install mugshot --no-install-recommends
@troypulk
Is the updater not functioning without?

On another note: Could you post your packaging workflow? At least in the maintainers section?
I will, as soon as I've done all packages. Hopefully before we release the new ISOs but certainly after the summer holidays.

Upstream in /opt

The upstram packages for Adobe Flash and Firefox are now installed in /opt. Now, that I'm packaging according to Debian policy, lintian bugs me with the message that installing in /opt is discouraged. If we were to move those directories, where would be best? I see that the latest build of FF is in ...

Re: apt: command not found (!..)

First, you need to address these errors: Target Packages (main/binary-amd64/Packages) is configured multiple times in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google-earth-pro.list:3 and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google-earth.list:1 It seems you have the same lines configured in this list. sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.l...

Re: apt: command not found (!..)

@EliaSXK91 Site admin is not gone, site admin needs time with his family once in a while. @ilu apt sync is a command you could use provided solydxk-system has been installed correctly and that is part of the problem with this system. Back to his problem. This is what I did: First update the apt cach...

Re: SolydXK 10 Preview and Testing

No, there are too many technical issues that need to be resolved and changing the design takes a lot of time.

However, I'm open to suggestions and volunteers ;)

Re: Waterfox source

I've also tried to build Firefox and Waterfox and include a source file. Unfortunately, that wasn't simple at all and I've posted a question on stackoverflow for that. It's not as simple as uploading the orignal source file to our repository. That will be refused because it is missing a .dsc file wi...

Re: Waterfox source

Ah, that! I didn't understand what you meant. I don't change anything about the source. I only package, nothing more. So, if something is missing that should be there I cannot do anything about it. I would be changing the source. If I legally have to comply, the only thing I could do is to remove th...

Re: Waterfox source

I think it's because of the way I download the source and build the packages.
Firefox is done the same way and it also doesn't provide the source.

Re: Secure booting Debian is ready with buster

Currently, live-installer-3 and solydxk-system use: cryptsetup luksFormat --cipher aes-xts-plain64 --key-size 512 --hash sha512 --iter-time 5000 --use-random but I'll add --type luks2 in the next version: cryptsetup luksFormat --type luks2 --cipher aes-xts-plain64 --key-size 512 --hash sha512 --iter...

I'll install it in the SolydXK-10 ISOs I'm working on now.

If I finished uploading them, I'll post back here.

Re: Live Installer vs Calamares

Thanks for checking that for me.

I think that, if I have the time :? , I will modernize the GUI. Now, it feels rather out-dated but it has very low priority right now. It's a pity we don't have more python programmers here.

In one of the menus there should be the option for safe boot.

Re: SolydXK 10 Preview and Testing

I've updated the ISOs. I've decided to abandon usb-creator. It's too buggy and mostly it doesn't work. I still have the best results with dd. So, I removed usb-creator from the solydxk-10 ISOs and created a script to help users to write an ISO to USB from dolphin/thunar. The script /usr/bin/iso-usb ...
