Re: Breakages and News tracking Debian Testing

that change came with an update made to testing yesterday.
I have been on testing for a while and the script automatically did what is suggested by your output. I have no problems.

Re: Breakages and News tracking Debian Testing

Thanks for your reply. sudo dpkg --configure -a sudo apt-get -f install did not yield anything -- that is all packages are configured and there are no broken packages. I installed mate to see if it was a plasma issue - and mate didn't even start. I got infinite windows opening right after log-in and...

Re: Breakages and News tracking Debian Testing

Had some issues with SolkdK stable (kde wouldn't start with any user after updating backported packages ) so I upgraded to testing hoping that it would overwrite the corrupted files/config. the update succeeded and KDE works; Power management, sleep when idle etc. not implemented? Ksnapshot broken? ...

Low Battery Warning - KDE Notify Fail?

Dear Solyd Team I'm on jessie solyd release. The power mgmt utility in KDE fails to warn me that the battery is low (10%). However, it does not fail to powerdown the computer when power = 5%. Has anyone else found this problem? in the meantime, here's the workaround that I'm using: https://bbs.archl...

Code: Select all

 grep -i -P 'vpn|ufw' /var/log/syslog

see if the errors in there make sense

PPTP runs on 1723
OpenVPN can run on any port.

Re: UFW (uncomplicated firewall) blocks VPN and NTP (kcmcloc

Turn off UFW before attempting to connect to the VPN -- once VPN is working, you can turn on the firewall again. to find UFW go to the launcher and type in Firewall. You can also set a new rule as an exemption to allow all traffic between you and the VPN server - however - this only works if you onl...

Re: UFW (uncomplicated firewall) blocks VPN and NTP (kcmcloc

If you were on testing then you were tracking Stretch not Jessie. Changing your sources to point to Jessie would probably break something since Jessie is a downgrade from Stretch. Is VPN the only thing that broke?

Re: Screen display is huge [SOLVED]

Your opening post suggested running the sgfxi script twice in a row as the first time uninstalls the existing driver and the second installs the new one. I have been doing so each time. (I haven't restarted in a few days - just putting it to sleep... maybe it will fix itself) -- btw -- I'm SolydK EE...

Re: UFW (uncomplicated firewall) blocks VPN and NTP (kcmcloc

I've confirmed that the NTP error is not caused by firewall. Does anyone else have trouble with NTP on SokydK Jessie?

Re: UFW (uncomplicated firewall) blocks VPN and NTP (kcmcloc

Try to uncheck the ' IPV6 support enabled' of UFW in the GUI and then turn off the firewall (uncheck the box in the GUI). Then turn on UFW and re enable IPV6, do you get a crash?

Re: UFW (uncomplicated firewall) blocks VPN and NTP (kcmcloc

I deleted UFW and installed instead firewalld (default in fedora) and I still get the same problem. unable to contact time server: north-america.pool.ntp.org I also tried it with regular pool.ntp.org however - pptp now works. --- By way of verifying if this is really a bug, does UFW crash when you c...

UFW (uncomplicated firewall) blocks VPN and NTP (kcmclock)

Hi I find that UFW is blocking VPN and kcmclock. I'll start with NTP then VPN (inxi output follows) I found this in var/log/syslog May 31 17:10:01 merperthinkpad dbus[928]: [system] Activating service name='org.kde.kcontrol.kcmclock' (using servicehelper) May 31 17:10:01 merperthinkpad org.kde.kcont...

Re: Screen display is huge [SOLVED]

I've been running only sgfxi NOT smxi -- that's what you intended correct?

I repeated with sgfxi and since everything was already downloaded it didn't have anything new to download - same result however. First boot ok, next boot is problematic.

Re: Screen display is huge [SOLVED]

The two step installation was described on the page you sent. It's because Ctrl+Alt+F1 kills the wireless at times. SK the two part install allows the download to happen first then the install on the second round. I will try it again without the two step.

Re: Screen display is huge [SOLVED]

Hello I installed in two parts, sgfxi -T in Konsole and then sgfxi -W with Ctrl+Alt+F1 and logged in as root. When the script completed the display was fixed -- and -- when I first rebooted the screen was fine @ grub, then it went huge as it was loading, then black for a while, then at the X login i...

Re: Dual-Boot / Share bluetooth mouse between Linux & Window

Solved: Debian is smarter than I am -- the KDE bluetooth manager conveniently provides a button at the bottom left saying MANUAL PIN. All you have to do is follow the instructions here http://askubuntu.com/a/246791/352576 to extract the windows key and then use that key (16 bytes, no spaces) as the ...

The issue seems to have resolved itself when I installed skype (which made me uninstall Libav**-56-extra and install a whole bunch of packages instead. (tracking solyd-jessie).
