Re: SolydXK on Social Media

We suffer from unsolicited telephone calls often with accents from the Indian sub-continent. The guilty parties are probably using information gleaned/stolen from the telephone company. I object to anybody having any more information about me than they need. (Payment details, delivery address, perha...

Re: Accounting and Invoice software - Akaunting

My limited experience of accountancy software is QuickBooks(commercial), GnuCash and Kmymoney. QuickBooks was good but it decided to withdraw the en-uk edition so that was the end of them. It is easily adapted to do other jobs like run the local horticultural show where categories are points prizes ...

Re: Bluetooth - ache!

Thanks. I fear you may have opened another hole in the rabbit warren. The link that you quoted gives me an answer but the results that I now get, (connected for a short time only and then 'connected no) is the fault that instigated the original URL. You have given me enough clues to keep me out of m...

Bluetooth - ache!

I am a new bluetooth user who is not very clever. This is being carried out on an old Solydk system(an updated version not testing). Solydk8? I have a file which Dolphin tells me I can transfer to another machine using bluetooth. When I try to do this no possible destinations are named and it goes i...

Re: driver nvidia installation

There is not much wrong with your English. I once worked on a French operated drilling on equipment up the derrick I did not need a hard hat up the derrick and every time I came back down somebody had nicked it! So I would cry out 'ou est mon capot?' It took me a long time to find out what they were...

Re: DDM resurrected

I am afraid that there is no /var/log/ddm. lightdm but no ddm. There is no /var/log/ddm in Solydx either. The only package not yet installed was the xserver-amdgpu package and this was loaded using synaptic I am afraid. Lazy sods always take the easy way out! I did glance at the code but was unable ...

Re: DDM resurrected

This is a Solydk9 machine. It is an 'out of the box' download updated by the system. The description of the Graphics chip is; AMD/ATI Wrestler Radeon H6320. The present system works but I have not tried any tricks that the video chip may be able to do. Carrying out your instructions; martin@fitpc3 ~...

Re: SolydXK 9 released!

Mysql and Mariadb are different but similar programmes. If I carry out a Solydxk9 conversion I will have to reload several personal programmes some of which use Autotools installation techniques. The ./configure, stage one in the programme installation operation, has never heard of mariadb. Fiddling...

Re: SolydXK 9 released!

Reading between the lines of Pastors post updating an existing system to Solydk9 is a system reload and not a change in the addresses of the repositries. As he clearly describes it is not a rolling release. My existing 'stable' system uses Mysql solydxk9 uses mariadb and whilst mariadb may well be i...

Works for me. Solydx ordinaire and SolydX-9 both using 'normal' sources lists.

The question arises have you loaded details of the location of the weather station?

Re: DDM and AMD Radeon

As an aside, it is interesting to see how different countries translate colloquealisms. I suppose if the first impression of its meaning is attractive this is the meaning that you retain, probably for ever. Solydxk: Ilu's message dated 20th February 2017 I think contains the answer. AMD/Radeon had a...

Re: DDM and AMD Radeon

I have gone to my very slow 'testing' machine and tried in the Solydk version. ddm is version 2.3.5 and 'welcome' is 1.3.4 Selecting the Welcome program, page 2 and when a driver is selected it displays the ATI/Radeon splashed header and if this is selected you get an instant statement saying there ...

Re: DDM and AMD Radeon

An early download of Solydk 9 offers to install a Radeon/AMD graphics driver from the Welcome Screen. If you accept the offer and ask for an install you then get a message stating that there are no drivers available. I have assumed that if the procedure offered by the operating system does not work ...
