Re: commands in 9 not in 10

1. Please check whether blkid is installed with dpkg -l util-linux . I cannot imagine that it is not installed. Check the spelling. And don't login as root but as user and do sudo blkid . If you really really need to become root, use sudo -i . 2. Tutorial for grub repairs is here: https://forums.so...

Warnings can always be ignored.

This warning has to do with breeze-gtk-theme which needs to be updated upstream.
Thanks for you reply

Re: Panel Icons

Hi
My meaning for "that I have added to the panel" is right click on menu item and choose add to panel.
Thanks for your suggestion, it was the default theme that gave the grey icons and I changed the theme and now have my coloured icons again.

Thanks again

Re: changing output resolution and refresh

... However the login page is still at 75Hz and I had assumed that I needed to change something in the boot up, but did not know enough to do this. What is the problem with "the login page is still at 75Hz"? Does this prevent you logging in somehow? Hi At 75Hz the login screen is not in the centre ...

transadd: What happens if you change the refresh rate via the XFCE GUI applet? Menu > Settings > Settings Manager > Display Use the pull-down menu to change the refresh rate from 75 to 60 Hz. Re: changing output resolution and refresh

you can either create a script under /etc/init.d/ then register it as common sysvinit script or simply throw it on /etc/rc.local. using rc.local would be lot easier since you only need to add the line above "exit 0" while using init.d will require a full init.d compatible script. I tried rc.local a...

Re: Bombono deb-multimedia

@kurotsugi, does SolydXK have a howto somewhere on pinning? I am using it extensively to create what they called a FrankenDebian install on the Debian support forums, but I am not always sure about the right priority for everything (plus the /etc/apt file names changed a bit with Jessie too). @tran...

Re: Bombono deb-multimedia

the problem is more about security stuff. your system will remain 'stable' as it always did but you'll miss all ffmpeg related security updates. some user didn't really care about it but if you do, then don't remove the repo. mixing repos didn't as scary as some user said. furthermore, dmo is speci...

Yes. Right-click the panel and go to Panel-->Panel Preferences. Uncheck Lock Panel. Grab the panel with the mouse at the left-hand edge and drag it to where you want it.

Thanks

New user

Hi My name is john, a new SolydX user from Essex. My main uses for Linux are fairly mundane, Internet, mail, office software and Multimedia. USER is the operative word as I do not have a background in computing. My system is old based on an AMD Athlon x2 64 bit, although I normally use 32 bit programs...

Re: Bombono deb-multimedia

I have kept my SolydX without deb-multimedia and have installed SolydX on another partition and added Bombono to this. I have then disabled the deb-multimedia repository but I am still using the SolydX repository updates . No problems yet. This will most likely cause problems later when other compo...
