Re: E4Defrag

Take a look at the Youtube link I posted. I did. But I stopped when the guy said "The truth is, most people probably don't need to worry about this..." Thats a bit unfair mate. I expect that everyone has a differing point of view and differing levels of experience. I offered it up as someone who do...

E4Defrag

I am wondering if this tool will have a place in SolydXK ? I appreciate that the question of 'defragging' in Linux can be a hot topic : so I am putting it out there to hear opinions. I believe that in certain circumstances : defragging of large files is warranted. And that is where E4Defrag comes in...

Re: Tutorial Page - Tube issue

As an update image: taken today. Here you can see that I have both tubes playing at the same time . The machine has no trouble handling both at the same time. If it were the graphic drivers : then the issue would be present in both videos. But as you can see : that is not the case. :? http://s15.pos...

Thanks Zill. Please excuse my skepticism ;) ( It's my nature I am afraid ) but here is the terminal output. . . . Re: Tutorial Page - Tube issue

Re the drivers. No : that's not the issue. All the drivers are correct. Nor does it explain the fact that all the other videos on the tutorial page work perfectly. As I stated before .... There is some material on the net concerning both 3D settings / and or / videos with higher resolution. that may...

Re: Tutorial Page - Tube issue

Hmmmm... I am using VLC and all my updates for the entire system are up to speed. Strange that it is only these first two that are a problem and not the others.. Even though I haven't change anything : maybe there is a problem with the VLC playback settings. I have just googled this issue and it poi...

Re: Show your Desktop Screenshots

Hello BostonPeng. Sorry for the delay. Here is a copy of the wallpaper I have been using. http://postimg.org/image/4k3dcocf3/ Just copy/paste the address into another page & you should see the image. :) Not my work : but I really like it. 8-) Maybe someone with some graphics know how could change th...

Tutorial Page - Tube issue

Hello Admin. I have been helping someone on another forum : by showing them how to install SolydXK onto their computer. Unfortunately, it appears that the first two instruction Youtubes are playing up. They both present a 'split screen' view of the same X instructions : as per these two images. I am...

Re: Show your Desktop Screenshots

I like to keep my desktop relatively uncluttered.

That said, I do have an appreciation of wallpapers. ;)

Re: Trinity TDE : Back to the future or back to the past ?

Guys. Thankyou for your honesty. Yes : I appreciate how small a work team can be... believe me... I found this out when I worked with Granular Linux. ( from memory I think at most there was only about 5 or 6 active members in the team ) The helping out at Trinity suggestion is one that I will look i...

Re: Trinity TDE : Back to the future or back to the past ?

Thanks for the heads up. Its been a long time since I have done such work (2009) so rusty is the operative word here. But I am in no rush : its a learning curve that requires a bit of time. ( I am a slow worker ) : but pretty solid in the end. Presently : its more a matter of time to spare, as well ...

Re: Trinity TDE : Back to the future or back to the past ?

it depends on whether if we got a maintainer for that DE. as long as someone is willing to maintain the DE it can live as one of the community project :3 Thank you for your reply. I am not 100% sure what you mean, but will assume that you are referring to the requirements of setting up an in-house ...

Trinity TDE : Back to the future or back to the past ?

I have been playing around with Trinity DE (desktop environment) on Q4OS, and I am wondering if there may be a future for TDE here ? I hope I don't get shot down for asking : but it seems an interesting 'resurrection' or should I say 'revival' of the old KDE 3.5 setup. Might it have a place within S...

Re: Permission to come aboard

Qwertius: Thanks for the detailed history and you seem to have used distros I haven't even heard of! I had to use Windows in my working life as an electronics engineer but, as I am retired now, I haven't been near a Windows system for nearly ten years. Linux does everything I want it to do and I wa...

Re: Permission to come aboard

Hi Zill, Thank you for your encouraging welcome. Re my distro history. Too many to put into one post : but I can tell you that I started with Corel 1.1. When that fell over, I took to Fedora. A bit stodgy & stick in the muddish these days, but back in the days of yore : it was 'cutting edge' and par...

Permission to come aboard

My first post and it seems appropriate to remember my manners. Knock on the door : or : if boarding a ship... ask permission to board. I am a long time Distro hopper and have about 15 years + under my belt when it comes to Linux. Still learning : still willing to ask questions and ... (hopefully) .....
