Re: Can't install latest SolydX on Virtualbox

I wanted a sandbox environment to test some stuff, that's why I want to use a VM.
But you're saying it install correctly on Virtualbox in SolydX?
In that case I'll just go ahead and install to hard drive and then install Virtualbox first to see if I can get it working there.

Re: Can't install latest SolydX on Virtualbox

Which ISO did you use? Try the nightly at https://downloads.solydxk.com/nightly/ . solydx_9_64_201807.iso I'll try with the nightly. Don't forget to post back any relevant output. solydxk@solydxk:~$ live-installer -n Executing: cat /proc/cmdline Executing: ps -ef | grep -v grep | grep 'python3' | g...

Can't install latest SolydX on Virtualbox

Hi all, After a long time, I'm back to SolydX. I wanted to test in Virtualbox before installing to disk, but found a problem where the installer just shows the splash screen and then nothing happens. Any way to start the installer to see any error message? Or someone already know how to fix this? La...

Re: Make update during installation optional?

There is a simple workaround: disconnect the internet before installation. This is good to know. So if I boot to the live desktop to test the iso, and everything works OK, I can then disconnect internet before launching the installer? Can't you put such a message on the start of the installer? With...

Re: Selene Media Converter

The guy who developed that media converter has another tool on his website called aptik which looks nice for cloning setups. It seems to be made for 'buntus but has files for debian too. Anybody ever used it? Used it on a Linux Mint with good internet to download packages, backup with aptik and res...

Re: Problem with Routing (?)

Using fixed IP didn't work to get Internet. I went back to using wlan0 for Internet and eth0 for the local network like this post

I'll ask the IT guy about this and see why he is using this range of IP's.

Re: Safe steps before installing Linux in dual boot

The image will be created as a file (or better yet, the backup will be a folder with one or more files per partition, depending on the options that you select). But make sure to read the options and also the instructions clearly, they are self explanatory. I've used this tutorial first time I used c...

Re: Problem with Routing (?)

The only way around this may be to assign a fixed address in that range, using the netmask 255.255.0.0 and gateway 169.254.1.1. If the address in your original posting (169.254.1.142) is always the one that's assigned, you could try that. Or start the machine in its current configuration, use ip ad...

Re: Safe steps before installing Linux in dual boot

With CloneZilla you can create an image file of the whole disk or just images of the different partitions.
The first time I thought it was the safest to just do the whole disk. But now with more experience I just create the images of the partitions I have modified.

Re: Problem with Routing (?)

I sure hope they do... In the past I haven't had problem with that. At the office there is a router and some firewall (AFAIK), and internally we always had IP's in the 169.254.0.0/16 range and been able to access Internet. Right now at home I have an IP in 192.168.0.0/16 range (private network, assi...

Problem with Routing (?)

Hi all, I have a weird problem with eth0 connection. In summary: I can ping and connect to devices on my network but can't get to the Internet. The weirdest part is that I'm using VirtualBox with WinXP (bridged to eth0) to post this question . Output of inxi -FNzxx: System: Host: solydx Kernel: 4.5....

Re: [Solved]Tap to click on touchpad not working after update

I don't have much more ideas, so you'll have to wait for others that can help.
As asked in the description of the Hardware section, post the output of

Code: Select all

inxi -Fzx
Maybe it can help others pinpoint the problem, or they will ask you the outputs of other diagnostic commands.

Re: Greetings from Venezuela

I see there's a skype package in the import section of the SolydXK repository. If that's the one asking for libssl1.0.0, it needs to be updated. Didn't know there was one in the repositories. Was trying to install one from the deb downloaded from the site. But now from the repositories: sudo apt-ge...
