Re: [Solved] How about a SolydM?

good morning all!

I still have a desire to get a SolydM going, but lack the skills (perhaps I lack the ability also)

Has anyone continued in this effort in last 10 months?

Re: Thunderbird profile questions (and maybe Firefox as well)

I have the same problem, using Debian Mate stable-updates sid. both: update-alternatives --config x-www-browser and xdg-settings set default-web-browser firefox.desktop helped, but just temporarily. It seems that if I run Tbird first the preferences get wacked, often with Tbird set as my preferred b...

A few days ago I asked the maintainer what work needs to be done. I'll take a look at it this weekend. When it's not too complicated and if I can easily embed the work in my current work for SolydXK I might consider taking over the project.
Kudos to you Sir

Re: firefox solydxk adustments fails

I've upped the version number of firefox-solydxk-adjustments. Installation went fine on my systems. So, could you try again: apt update apt install firefox-solydxk-adjustments Not sure when that change was made... time zone problem maybe? It is 10:31 am here I tried about two hours ago and it did n...

Re: I Like Firefoxfox esr but Worried ?

I do use Facebook, but in the container if that really helps.

Firefox Quantum is nice, especially for the feed reader Feedbro... so much easier to review the news without opening various web pages (that is how I saw this post)

Re: persona non grata

I had both of those "new domain" problems. Annoying but no big deal... I follow a number of forums, similar issues with most of them when they move or update. off topic rant: The Wordpress blogs and forums are the worst of all, they really suck big time. Hard to read, stupid fonts, light grey text o...

Re: Migrating server to Europe

I followed Ilu suggestion and read about the Cloud Act. The VPN I use is not based in the USA, but in Panama, where the US has no legal jurisdiction at all. Plus this company has a strict "no log" policy. This means if the US Gov were to somehow enforce a warrant on this company, they would say OK ...

Re: Migrating server to Europe

I am US born but I emigrated more than a decade ago, for other reasons. The trends over the last couple decades reinforce my conviction to not ever return to live or work. We cross for only light shopping and to visit friends and family. I am very thankful for the privacy we have here in Mexico, and...

Re: Migrating server to Europe

I'm not going to elaborate on all my concerns about the disturbing US policy towards non-US citizens and their non-existing rights. Just this: GDPR. Arjen as a european legal entity is not allowed to store user data on US servers starting May 25th without a lot of extra caveats. Easiest way to avoi...

Re: SolydXK on Social Media

I think social media posts are good, for the SolydXK project, and the Linux world as well. Exposure is always good, unless the goal is some sort of isolation... as in private club, but I doubt you folks want that. sure FaceBook and all the rest harvest data, all that they can. Anyone looking to prom...

Re: Better don't use Grub Customizer

@Albert this is from my notes, I forgot to try it the last time I had that problem. == 1. insert live dvd or usb 2. boot from that disk 3. once in live environment, open a terminal and enter: sudo grub-install /dev/sda && sudo update-grub 4. reboot as normal (remove live dvd/usb) you should now see ...

Re: Second firefox won't open for update

My Mate launchers might help

Firefox ESR
/usr/lib/firefox-esr/firefox-esr %u

firefox-esr is shared library (application/x-sharedlib)

Firefox Quantum
/home/peter/firefox/firefox

firefox is executable (application/x-executable)

Re: Second firefox won't open for update

I actually have both running now, but they conflict. I forget how I made this mess, but I installed Quantum on top of ESR, they both run. They share the same profile, and I think that makes a conflict. I having problems with "preferred applications" getting reset for no apparent reason, sometimes Th...
