Re: SolydXK 10 update script for 32bit CE

Oh well, I don't have a strict reason to upgrade ( and risk a speed reduction, if this is your fear )

Re: SolydXK 10 update script for 32bit CE

Thank you to both of you for the answers (and sorry if I didn't reply more quickly). So, if I ever want to risk it, I could use the very same script ( good to know, will have to download it ). @ilu , the target system is an "old" laptop ( thinkpad x31 in the rare variant made in japan ) that I'm sen...

SolydXK 10 update script for 32bit CE

Are there plans for a similar script to update from 9 i386 to 10 i386 (when the 10 is finalized anyway) ?

Re: Anyone using radiotray?

There's a newer version of radiotray , in the form of a fork

https://github.com/ebruck/radiotray-ng

Not sure how plug and play this one is, for our systems, anyway. on i386 , the 0.2.1 doesn't install due to a library version.
I suspect we may have to recompile everything for each architecture

Suggestion: Avoid fs-uae from debian repository

https://packages.debian.org/stretch/otherosfs/fs-uae Yesterday I've installed a couple of emulators, including this one. The issue is that once i've launched and started an A1200 , this "nice" emulator hammered my poor hd ... I could hear loudly the heads hitting something every 30 seconds. I'm stil...

Re: samba (2:4.5.12+dfsg-2+deb9u2) update issue

uh... seems that today nmbd magically decided to work ( it's 3 days I was battling those errors )... yesterday I tried to change the allowed ips, but I don't remember anything else particular aside that some automatic updates were (with difficulty) installed, too. anyway I just run dkpg --configure ...

samba (2:4.5.12+dfsg-2+deb9u2) update issue

Setting up samba (2:4.5.12+dfsg-2+deb9u2) fails, and the task is left pending ( post installation script ) so it's run every single time something else is installed. According to apt , 2:4.5.12+dfsg-2+deb9u2 is marked as installed. And yes, nmbd doesn't really start , I've tried various times. On to...

Re: What's a really good dvb-t program to install ?

Answering to myself. 1) somehow the scan utility and the conf files to scan the channels are mismatching 2) w_scan is unable to generate correct conf files, nor to generate correct channel lists ( just very partial and with weird scan settings ) 3) rewriting by hand the "old" frequency conf file ( f...

Re: Question about Suspend/Hibernate, and about Bluetooth

I've already adjusted a few things in the solydxk installation, somehow the idea of restarting again is not so compelling :S
Plus raspberry-x86 had a lot of issues with the wifi card ( no way to get it working ).

Re: Question about Suspend/Hibernate, and about Bluetooth

I know. But to say it all, I did test each single distribution first without using the nomodeset option. So all had Radeon , ati ,loaded ( all checked one by one with inxi -F ). It's with the Radeon and Ati installed that the youtube playback was bad , aside from solydxk and raspberry x86 ( obviousl...

Re: What's a really good dvb-t program to install ?

Yes, I did have a look at that actually, but somehow I don't like the ones proposed there... ( and it's from 2016, that partial list ) I've tried Me TV, and honestly is junk.. no channel ordering/numbering , channels split in groups of 10 you navigate page by page, very bad output/decoding quality -...

What's a really good dvb-t program to install ?

As in the title, while testing on virtual machines, I've tried a couple that were clearly marked as doing this, but they didn't work well ( search , channel ordering ), interface was meh, and streams kept having artifacts every n minutes. Anyone knows a good program ? I was using Avermedia AverTV on...

Re: Question about Suspend/Hibernate, and about Bluetooth

Thanks for the answers so far :) Blueman is installed, but for some reason doesn't manage to open unless first I manually turn it on using the echo. Once is on, blueman manages to turn it on/off as many times as I want ( and so the applet ), with the caveat that if the laptop is shut down with bt tu...

Re: http://www.deb-multimedia.org stretch

Thanks to both, I'll risk it, and cross fingers. I'm already on the i386 release, so technically I'm already taking chances. I guess one of the issues I may get is an hit to the video playback in youtube ( it's the test I was doing to pick the distro ). At worst if it happens, I can even reinstall (...

http://www.deb-multimedia.org stretch

Hello, is it safe to add deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org stretch main non-free to the repositories and do an upgrade to the newer versions of the libraries included there ? Or is it preferable to let the libraries be updated from the standard source, and just use newer/missing programs from deb-mu...

Question about Suspend/Hibernate, and about Bluetooth

Hello, it's various days I'm on a personal quest to find a distribution that could give a bit more life to an old Thinkpad X31 (Pentium M , ati M6 aka R100 as videocard). I've tried really a lot of different ones, ubuntu or debian based, and I hit always issues with the graphic performance ( lag in ...
