Re: Locked out of updates, dpkg

I would boot the old kernel and try to reinstall (or purge and install) those two packages. Sounds logical. Booting the 4.19.0-6 kernel and running the prelim commands, I can get apt to work, but we still hang : silverbear@masai7:~$ sudo killall apt apt-get [sudo] password for silverbear: apt: no p...

Re: Locked out of updates, dpkg

Yes, I'm running the latest kernel. apt purge just generates the error message again: silverbear@masai7:~$ uname -r 4.19.0-8-amd64 silverbear@masai7:~$ sudo apt purge linux-image-4.19.0-6-amd64 [sudo] password for silverbear: E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' ...

Locked out of updates, dpkg

I'm running stable SolydK 10. Updates a few days ago left my system in an unusual state. I can't install any more updates through the update manager, and my efforts to track down the problem are failing. Trying apt-get upgrade results in an error message: silverbear@masai7:~$ sudo apt-get upgrade [s...

Re: SolydK10 Firefox ESR bookmarks problem

Re: SolydK10 Firefox ESR bookmarks problem

Well that certainly was one issue! I got many updates coming through when I ran apt-get. I'd been relying on the "updates" applet widget on my main KDE panel to notify me --and I didn't see anything so I didn't think about updates. I checked the Panel Option > Add Widgets list and it showed I had th...

SOLVED: SolydK10 Firefox ESR bookmarks problem

I've been using SolydK 10 for a few weeks now, and most everything is smooth. One constant problem lately has been with Firefox 60.8.0esr (64 bit) bookmarking. It must have worked when I first installed SolydK10, because I have several custom bookmark "folders" on my bookmarks toolbar. 1] The bookma...

Re: boot delay 90 secs dev-disk-by

Something similar has happened to me many times. I usually have between three and six distros installed on the same SSD, sharing the same swap (on a different HHD). And every time I install a new distro, that installer usually reformats the swap partition with a different UUID. So what I usually do ...

SolydK 10 repositories

I've just installed SolydK 10 on a couple machines, and encountered an error message when trying to update the repos. In Synaptic, I got this: Repository 'http://security.debian.org buster/updates InRelease' changed its 'Version' value from '' to '10' Repository 'http://security.debian.org buster/up...

Re: Plasma does not start anymore

I had similar problem after installation of SolydK 9 Not black screen and mouse pointer but wallpaper and panel loaded but that's it. I've searched and it appears that there is a bug regarding default system tray and information popups. Solution was to remove system tray from panel and then add it ...

Re: I want SolydK and no SolydX

Welcome to SolydXK, Mia!
I am sorry to hear you have a problem. I prefer KDE (SolydK), too.
But KDE needs more RAM than XFCE desktop (SolydX).
Is it possible to give your virtual machine more RAM?
That would be the first thing to try, je crois.

Re: Can I disable bootup verbose?

Hi, mex*, Try this method. It may subdue all or at least most of the terminal boot messages: 1] edit as root this file: /etc/default/grub comment out with a # symbol the old line that controls this setting, and put in this one instead GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet loglevel=0 hush" You can only h...

Item #1: It was sad when Warren lost interest in Mepis. A brilliant programmer, he just did not care for the personal invol...
