Re: boot delay 90 secs dev-disk-by

Something similar has happened to me many times. I usually have between three and six distros installed on the same SSD, sharing the same swap (on a different HHD). And every time I install a new distro, that installer usually reformats the swap partition with a different UUID. So what I usually do ...

SolydK 10 repositories

I've just installed SolydK 10 on a couple machines, and encountered an error message when trying to update the repos. In Synaptic, I got this: Repository 'http://security.debian.org buster/updates InRelease' changed its 'Version' value from '' to '10' Repository 'http://security.debian.org buster/up...

I've searched and it appears that there is a bug regarding default system tray and information popups. Solution was to remove system tray from panel and then add it ...

Re: I want SolydK and no SolydX

Welcome to SolydXK, Mia!
I am sorry to hear you have a problem. I prefer KDE (SolydK), too.
But KDE needs more RAM than XFCE desktop (SolydX).
Is it possible to give your virtual machine more RAM?
That would be the first thing to try, je crois.

Re: Can I disable bootup verbose?

Hi, mex*, Try this method. It may subdue all or at least most of the terminal boot messages: 1] edit as root this file: /etc/default/grub comment out with a # symbol the old line that controls this setting, and put in this one instead GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet loglevel=0 hush" You can only h...

Re: Hello from rural USA

Wow! What a pleasure to meet a bunch of old comrades! So as not to clog up the forum with too much personal stuff, let me take the liberty of using one post to address you all. Item #1: It was sad when Warren lost interest in Mepis. A brilliant programmer, he just did not care for the personal invol...

Hello from rural USA

JGB-OUTDOORS-01s.png Hello! My name is John Boice, better known in the online Linux users community as SilverBear . I've been using one or another Linux distro since I was first introduced to "Warty Warthog" (Ubuntu 4.10) --my enthusiasm for this new alternative to MS-Windows at that time earned me...
