Re: Convert Debian 9 into SolydXK

Maybe a not so clever question of me?: Is there a problem in continuing using version 8, because I read on the google-page: https://solydxk.nl/downloads/solydx/ Quote on the google-page: SolydX does not need to be reinstalled each time an update is released. You don't have to reinstall, ever ! Or is...

Ach.. 'goede raad is duur' met een nieuw langdurig protesterend softwaretje, als ik geen expert ben en dat ben ik niet, moet je maar rekenen.

Re: Vivaldi video on all sites after problem

I like the browser. I couldn't get it working on certain sites for about 4 months. Only an old version of Vivaldi did right.(Think of something simple like newsbulletins on nos.nl, familiar to you I suspect. Or video-tests on the web.) Now it does. The package ffmpeg is part of debian 8 (https://pac...

Vivaldi video on all sites after problem

I hope this can be of help: Vivaldi (which is a nice browser overall in my opinion) did not display video on some sites. It appeared to be codecs. Solution with thanks to lamarca: @lamarca said in Still no video on certain sites: Your distro does not provide that package (when it's ubuntu thing). I ...

Re: Replace Software Manager with Gnome Software

Linux Lite 2.8, PCLinuxOS Mate, Xubuntu, Mint 17: descriptions in Synaptics of the packages are more than one line. In Solyd it is one line of text. No worry, one can view the site of the application, but it made me curious. :) When I use an other package manager like 'Smart' or 'Software Manager' i...

Re: Update Kernel

Can it be a problem for the 'rolling character of SolydX' not replacing the kernel in the long run?

Re: Keeping primary user and root passwords synced

Filemanager behaviour changed?

I noticed something strange in SolydX. I always used in Linux distro's KDE's Dolphin because Thunar, Nautilus, Caja of whatever did not do with root priviledge what Dolphin could. Namely ALL. Handy with care... Now suddenly after I put SolydX on a new system with Systemback they can and so I can dro...

I've re-read this topic after a few weeks of absence and I must say that I really like the discussion. Although Synaptics has similar functionalities, the current Software Manager is there for the new-to-Linux users that could use a little help with choosing the right software for their needs. Soly...
