Re: BE to Jessie upgrade

Dear Grizzler,

Your reply was spot on. Thank you very much that solved the issue.

I was using kdm and during the upgrade the default was to continue with it. If I decide on moving back to kdm, will I be able to do it?

Re: BE to Jessie upgrade

Hi Folks, Let me start saying, that even with the problems that I encountered twice when updating, I still love this distribution and KDE. However, today 31/01/15 I updated the system using the update-manager, and ..... got locked out. I am able to log into linux using a terminal. But, the graphical...

Re: Home-banking and java issues

Dear Colleagues, I am having the same sort of problems with Banco do Brasil (http://www.bb.com.br/portalbb/home29,116,116,1,1,1,1.bb). When I press the OK blue button, the script runs but produces a white square instead of the normal ouput which would be three files to enter the agency and account n...

Re: Black screen after GRUB and KDE not loading

Hi ScottQuier,

Thank you for helping me out.

It seems that the Plymouth was causing the problem. By selecting not to load the plymouth splash screen the problem has gone away.

[SOLVED] Black screen after GRUB and KDE not loading

Hi Fellows, On one of my computers, a Dell Vostro 3500, an intermitent bug, which has started fairly recently, happens. I switch on the laptop, select SolydK on GRUB (dual boot with Windows7). Sometimes the KDE does not start. The computer presents a black screen with a light point at its up-left co...

Hi,

Thanks again for the support.

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

Hi Schoelje, Thanks for the help. I'm running UpdateManager as normal user. Only for denerating the print out I used a root console. Anyway, now it seems that everything is almost fine. The pop-up window stating "your system is update" does not appear when I do a refresh, it only appears after I pre...

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

Hi ScottQuier,

That did the trick. What baffles and surprises me is that I had restarted the ssystem before reporting the problem.

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

Hi Fellows,

Solved all issues with upgrade 2014.07.15. Everything seems to be running OK in all machines, except

The UM icon on systray has disappeared.

How to get it back in place again?

Thanks in advance,

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

Many thanks for everyone that helped.

After being able to log in into console I runned the command

apt install --reinstall kde-workspace-bin

And, voilá, the system was back to life as usual.

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

Tried the fix ./solydfixes -kduyft on my laptop. Still no luck. I still cannot log in into the machine using the graphical interface of KDE. I can access the machine on a console access. Any ideas on how to sort this problem out? I love SolydK64, but this issue is really a nightmare Any help will be...

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

I have the same problem: The K 64 machine is not login in. Shows me the login screen, and I click on the user shown and type the password and doesn't get in. It goes back to the login again. My 3 machines are doing it. They all used to run perfectly until now. I tried the previous kernel, no deal. W...

Re: GUI for System Control

YAST, and its similar one on Mandriva (or many years ago Mandrake) are great, and as pointed out more comprehensive than the system settings gui.

Let's hope in the near future it will be within the distribution scope.

Hi Schoelje,

The only one I know of is the one used by OpenSUSE (YAST2)

Re: GUI for System Control

Hi Schoelje,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am aware of the KDE GUI for system adjustments. Yast (or Yast2) as used in OpenSUSE comprises more than that. For instances it can modify GRUB entries, set up firewall rules.

GUI for System Control

Great news! Finally a distribution that is based on Debian Testing and employs KDE. I had previously used OpenSUSE and really appreciated YAST. It was great to be able to control all system settings through a GUI. For SolydK to be the perfect distribution, a similar GUI should be implemented. Please...
