Re: [Talk] Home Edition security updates

Thanks - no output from
sudo dpkg --configure -a
Presume that means all is well :)

Re: [Talk] Home Edition security updates

Updated this morning. The update stopped with
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
(see attachment)
I rebooted and the update completed, but the usual box confirming completion did not appear. After a further reboot, everything seems OK.

LinuxQuestions.org

The 2014 LinuxQuestions.org Members Choice Awards are now open. SolydXK is not listed as an option in either desktop or server categories. I have asked for it to be included in the Desktop category. The more people who ask the more likely it is to be added. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/20...

Re: [Talk] Home Edition security updates

After the last update, the icon in the bottom panel indicates that there are more updates, but if I click on it it says "Your system is up to date".

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

I hadn't changed anything, but the behaviour of Update Manager changed to the way it was when I first tried to apply the UP, so I reset /usr/lib/solydxk/updatemanager/files/updatemanager.hist back from 2000.01.01 to 2014.07.15 and the update worked. /usr/lib/solydxk/updatemanager/files/updatemanager...

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

I've just noticed that /usr/lib/solydxk/updatemanager/files/updatemanager.hist has changed to

Code: Select all

up=2000.01.01
again.

I tried changing it back to

Code: Select all

up=2014.07.15
but it still didn't work.

@rokytnji
I didn't know I had a pastebin :)

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

Don't know if this is any help - it shows how to disable the HDMI audio completely. It's for Arch but should work for any distro.

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

@cruachan OK - last attempt, based on what I did to get my USB DACMagic set as the primary source: 1) Open PulseAudio Volume Control Playback tab. 2) Start a sound source - it should appear on PulseAudio Volume Control. If necessary, click on the speaker symbol with the red cross (next to the dropli...

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

Odd. In my setup it doesn't seem to make any difference what is selected in Audio Hardware Setup. The only real difference to your setup seems to be that I am using HDMI. Have you set up each category (Music, Video, etc) in the left hand panel separately? Sorry I have no other suggestions. Sometimes...

If you change it in the Device Preference tab (rather than Audio Hardware Setup) it should stick.

Awake from hibernate

Since the UP, my PC (desktop) will only awake from hibernate if the power off button is briefly pressed. Before the update, pressing any key would awaken it. Is this correct behaviour?

New default location for Apache2 directory

The default Apache2 directory has changed from /var/www to /var/www/html with the latest UP.
Not a problem but might save someone from wondering why their website seems to have vanished.

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

libgdbm3 is still installed, the other two are gone.
The output is attached.
When I run updatemanager it doesn't give any errors, but the usual "Your system is up to date" message doesn't appear.

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.07.15

I used Synaptic to remove the two broken packages (both 32 bit), then tried updatemanager again. It doesn't show any errors, and doesn't find any updates, but the icon indicates that updates are available. Using the "Mark all upgrades" option in Synaptic gives a lot of packages to be removed, instal...
