Re: Updatemanager does not open

Hi Schoelje, I forgot to mention that I am using SolydK amd64. I got several error messages during the actualization like Processing triggers for hicolor-icon-theme (0.13-1) ... (gtk-update-icon-cache-3.0:7842): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Cannot open pixbuf loader module file '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/g...

Re: Updatemanager does not open

Sorry, your hint did not work. The messages are the same as before.

Should I actualize the system via terminal and test updatemanager next time?

Kind regards,

Updatemanager does not open

If I invoke the updatemanager, it only asks for the password, but the programm does not open itself. I remember having had problems before and that I started the system actualization with apt-get dist-upgrade in a terminal. Here is the recent output of updatemanager: bequimao@solydk-box ~ $ sudo dpk...

Re: Java SDK

There is no need to replace openJDK. You can install both versions and choose between them with update-alternatives. You'll find tutorials searching "debian oracle java",

Re: Akonadi SQLite backend

Hi Bruno,

It should work. akonadi-backend-sqlite is already installed. I wrote an how-to about it, albeit in Portuguese. I guess from your nick that you might be able to read it.
Configuração leve do akonadi

Please note the function of /etc/xdg/akonadi/akonadiserverrc.

Re: Home-banking and java issues

Hi Gonzalo, Nice to meet you again! I did not try online banking of BdoB in Solydxk, but I do have the same issue in Debian testing. I thought it was a matter of OpenJDK or Oracle Java. Thanks for the information! It works in opensuse 13.1 and its current version of OpenJDK 7 and IcedTea Java plugin...

Hi Seyke, [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [F8] should return you to the graphical client. What you see are the different Unix terminals. Re: Akonadi DAV Groupware Resources Unavailable

Why? Never thought that there would be any problem. Simply type "akonadi" into the search of the kick-off application launcher, and there you have it.

Thanks, now I know how to invoke the akonadi configuration in a terminal!

Re: updating a dozen computers offline How to?

Hi gazza, I think your solution is the simpliest method. If the computers are connected in a local network, one might define a machine as a proxy for mirroring, install apt-cacher-ng as proxy software, and then every package would be downloaded only once. But I never tested this approach. Have a nic...

As you are already using encryption by LUKS you should have a look at

A few more commands, but an excellent training!

Sorry to hear about this, but when I recently bought my system, I told the vendor a) that I want to run a dual-boot system with Windows 8 and Debian and b) that Nvidia graphics is a no go. I have read to many issues like this.

Re: Installing SolydK to UEFI and GPT

Some additional remarks: I had expected to install several firmware for my new system and then invoke an # update-initramfs -u -t -k all to refresh the initramdisk. But it all was already there. Installing SolydK to UEFI and GPT

Hi friends, I have now SolydK running on my new Sony Vaio E Series SVE1713G4EW with UEFI and GPT! One might say that I cheated, but this is how I did it: I copied the SolydK partition of my old system to an external USB-disk and then into the free space of my gpt-disk using gparted. Then I chrooted ...

Re: user and root: 1 password?

Hi ludger, Yes, that is inherited from Ubuntu and Linux Mint. Or more correctly, root has no password at all. That leeds to the exuberant usage of sudo. They might bash me for this statement :) You can have a true root session by $ sudo su or give root a password $ sudo passwd Best regards, Bequimão

Re: How can I configure system locales in an installed syste

Going back to the first posting, I do not think that the installer is very stable when trying different locales. Perhaps you should have a look at the aptosid-installer. It does support multiple languages, LVM and UEFI and gpt. There is a guide how to prepare a USB-stick ready for UEFI in the aptos...
