Problem with Device-Mapper ?

This morning, I plugged my Kindle in with the usual usb cable, and was surprised by a message: Error mounting /dev/sdi1 at /media/Kindle: Command-line `mount -t "vfat" -o "uhelper=udisks2,nodev,nosuid,uid=1000,gid=1000,shortname=mixed,dmask=0077,utf8=1,showexec,flush" "/dev/sdi1" "/media/Kindle"' ex...

USB 3 woes: "unable to enumerate USB device"

I have added a USB 3 PCI-E card to the box; when I connect a pendrive to it, I get in dmesg a number of iterations of: [168577.073286] usb usb4-port2: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad? [168579.639821] usb usb4-port2: Could not disable after 2000 ms followed by [168601.917179] usb 3-1.2: new...

I tried it, but it would not run:

libdbus-glib-1.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Couldn't load XPCOM.

Re: WYSIWYG HTML editor ?

In spite of starting with the letter "K" Kompozer is NOT a KDE app. You are quite right, I found my mistake just now. Be aware that the latest release they have on the Kompozer.net site in .deb binary is 0.7.10 which is not compatible with GTK ≥ 2.14 (tried it, it segfaulted all over the place) but...

Re: Libssl problem installing Amaya

it seems the other alternative is http://www.w3.org/Amaya/User/Autoconf.html Does not compile, keeps asking for several libs/pkgs that are not in the SolydX distribution. modifying the deb file and change the dependency is also possible but there's no guarantee it will work. I tried installing the ...

Libssl problem installing Amaya

Trying to install the Amaya WYSIWYG HTML editor with # dpkg -i amaya_11.4.7-1_i386.deb , I get the following: dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of amaya: amaya depends on libssl0.9.8 (>= 0.9.8m-1). Now I have libssl1.0.0 installed, which I would have thought to be >= 0.9.8 Is there a w...

Re: WYSIWYG HTML editor ?

MAYBL8, I beg to differ: while coding the HTML source is good for fine-tuning your page, a WYSIWYG editor will be a great help and time-saver to automate many chores for you: like:"Creating a 15x6 table, and selecting/dragging bits of text, or pictures, into each cell". Anyroads my original query wa...

Re: WYSIWYG HTML editor ?

How about gwrite? Gwrite would be good for me except that, like LibreOffice Writer, it seems to think that it is a good idea to compulsorily import all the pictures of the page into the .html file as src="data:image;base64,... data. Not only this results in bloated html files, but it also makes it ...

Re: WYSIWYG HTML editor ?

OK, Thanks for the pointers. Bluefish is out, not WYSIWYG. Quanta looks very dead: latest tarball download returns 404. Kompozer is out, since it took me long enough to get rid of all the KDE crap in my box, and I don't want to pollute it again. Later correction: I am wrong here, Kompozer is not of ...

Re: Mime type application setting are not saved. (Solved)

Found the solution:

Open ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list in vi, Mousepad or the editor of your choice.

Remove the offending applications from the relevant lines in the [Added Associations] section, at the end of the file && Save.

Mime type application setting are not saved. (Solved)

I have noticed in recent weeks that although I had set all to open with Risetto, some image files now open with GIMP, while some others (like .jpeg) try, but fail to open with Evince. I have tried to change the default prog associated with jpg in Pcmanfm, it does not take. I have tried to change the...
