Re: I just lost my network connection with the latest updates (SolydXEE)

I just followed exactly the things the guy in the first link posted. He purged the iptables so I did also. Iptables and firewalls are 2 of the many things that I still have to learn. I wonder if having populated tables might inteerfere with installing firewalld? If you are adventurous you could keep...

Re: I just lost my network connection with the latest updates (SolydXEE)

I had the same problem, and found the solution in the link grizzlelr supplied. https://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2020/02/msg00403.html . Specifically in the the last response. So I removed ufw. Then I purged iptables following this https://serverfault.com/questions/200635/best-way-to-clear-all-ip...

Re: [Solved [Help]] Resize EFI Partition

In the installer, during the partitioning step, there is a check box beside each partition for formatting. The column is labeled format. Ensure that there is not a check mark in that box.

Re: [Solved [Help]] Resize EFI Partition

Having the EFI partition second in order is not unusual for Windows. It is that way on my machine. All I had to do when installing SolydX was tell the installer NOT to format /dev/sda2 and to mount that partition at /boot/efi.
I attached a screenshot of Gparted on my machine.

Re: New ISOs in ce/testing

Good Morning
It seems that I have made a silly error. I removed the iso from the vm's optical drive but it was not actually removed. Most likely I clicked the wrong button. So I have been starting the live session.
Sorry to have bothered you guy's.

Re: New ISOs in ce/testing

I installed SolydXee_11_64_2019 in VirtualBox. Sha256sum checked for the iso. Installation was without problem. But at the first update using Package Updater I got an error. The message on screen was: Error while installing package: installed solydx-system-adjustments-11 package post-installation sc...

Re: LibreOffice 6

The stable edition is not going to get 6.1, until Debian makes the change to Buster as stable which should be sometime mid-year. Version 6.1.5 is in testing now.

I have used minitool partition Wizard Free successfully. https://www.partitionwizard.com/free-pa ... nager.html.
It is free but I don not know if it is OSS. It may be able to solve your problem.

Re: Breakage and News tracker for debian testing [buster]

There is a bug in apt-show-versions that breaks apt apt update. There is a workaround posted.
This is probably related to the perl transition.

Re: SolydXK on Social Media

I think the visibility factor is the determinant. Assuming that the social media accounts are locked down as much as possible, and the amount of information available in the account is limited.
One headline I saw this week, "Don't delete Facebook, just be smart when using it"

Re: SolydXK System Settings (GUI for solydxk-system)

SolydXK System Settings produces conflicting entries in /etc/apt/sources.list I was setting up a VM of SolydK-ee this morning and used SolydXK System Settings to choose the fastest mirrors. After making my choices and clicking save mirrors I noticed a faster mirror for Debian, so I selected that one...

Re: Launching a program by start that needs «sudo» password

I have been curious about this myself, so this morning I investigated. The man page for visudo states that it provides some "sanity checking" when editing the sudoers file. This sounded like some syntax checking so I did a small test. In a graphical text editor, opened with elevated privileges I rem...

Re: New ISOs in ce/testing

There is no /usr/bin/apt and I couldn't find anything useful in the logs. I removed the package from the archive & then reinstalled but that was no help. The package is marked as an alpha, and Debian has a boatload of bugs against it in Sid(?). That is a far as I can go today, I'll play around some ...
