(Solved) Re: Bad return status for module build on kernel: 4.6.0-1-686-pae

the message is quite straightforward. the nvidia driver isn't compatible with kernel 4.6 series. it happened quite often in sid/testing realm. you only need to wait until new nvidia driver arrive in the repo. meanwhile, you can use kernel 4.5 which should be fully functional. else, you can grab the...

Bad return status for module build on kernel: 4.6.0-1-686-pae

Can anyone please tell me why this is happening and what I can do about it? I'm running SolydX EE on an old Dell M1710 with a Nvidia GeForce Go 7900 GS card. The latest working kernel I have running well is 4.5.5-686-pae. Incidently, I get the same error with both Liquorix and Siduction 4.6.1 kernel...

Re: ISO refresh...

The sets mentioned on this page , once every six months. The ones here , irregularly, maybe once a month. For the EEs, this largely depends on whether there are known breakages/issues in Testing . If there are any, creating a new set may not be very useful. If one or more issues have just been fixe...

Re: Recursive DNS

Thank you all for helping out a floundering noob. I've been a Plusnet customer for a number of years now, largely without any issues, so why this email 'out of the blue' is baffling. There does seem to be some discussion in the Plusnet forums about the Government's new 'proposal' that will oblige IS...

Could not resolve 'community.solydxk.nl'

Please excuse me if this question is in the wrong section, my SolydX EE usually runs so smoothly and trouble-free that I don't often need help from these forums. This morning however, I got the following message during my usual update/upgrade routine: W: Failed to fetch http://community.solydxk.nl/p...

Re: Virtualbox kernel not running

If you're sure you don't need virtualbox, just remove any virtualbox packages that happen to be installed: sudo apt-get purge ^virtualbox* I'm also getting this message at every boot. I do have virtualbox installed, which 'seems' to be working properly, and I'd like to keep it. Please, does anyone ...

Re: Plymouth boot screen failed

I have the same problem. The rest of the update was flawless, but Plymouth broke. Not a huge problem, I can live without it - but it would still be nice to fix the issue.

Thank you all at SolydXK for your excellent work.

Re: Thank you - most trouble free update so far!

I heartily second dyfet's sentiments. This was the most hassle-free update I've ever experienced, of any Linux system I've ever used. Given the size and scope of the update, there were absolutely no glitches or error messages of any kind, and after the reboot everything just worked perfectly on my S...

I think Menulibre might be what you're looking for. I use it on SolydX, and it works very well indeed. Incidentally, I believe Menulibre will be the default menu editor in Xubuntu 14.04, replacing alacarte. http://smdavis.us/projects/menulibre/ http://pkgs.org/debian-jessie/debian-main-i386/menulibr...

Re: nVidia drivers

Welcome to our forum, Edd. I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with SolydXK. First, have you checked the md5sum after you downloaded the iso? I've just tested the compatibility mode on 3 very different systems, and all functioned as expected. If the iso's md5sum is correct, then I'm afrai...

nVidia drivers

Greetings all, This is my first post, so please excuse me if it's in the wrong section. I recently posted a comment on Google+ Linux Mint, about my experience attempting to try/install both SolydX and SolydK on one of my aged boxes, a Dell XPS 1710 laptop, which uses a nVidia Go 7900GS video card. I...
