Sudo password to always change with main password

This is a major mis step in the way solyd works for me, keeping the sudo password separate from the main password. In Ubuntu and linux mint (and its debian edition) if the main user changes thier password the sudo password changes, IE one password across the system. SolydXK's slogan of "the linux de...

MakuluLinux and SolydXK: practically the same distro

Really the new Makulu linux distro is relatively exactly like solyd: Based on Testing Both using Mint tools Both rolling Both feature KDE and XFCE desktops Both are for novice users Maybe there could be some collaboration between the distros, the goals seem compatible and the distros seem to be quit...

Re: Ikey launches evolve-os

Recently tried OpenSuse 13.1 KDE and still had the same bugs for me. The Weird Wireless worked in LiveCD but not in the install requiring me to manually go in and click a couple of things to get working. Then tho whole multiple ways to get packages and the Yast thing had me confused. Stuck with it ...

Re: Password change does not change admin (sudo) password

You haven't told how you changed your password, or what you have tried to solve your issue. So, I'll have to make some assumptions. You probably changed your password with a GUI, but that won't change the root password. I also assume that you want to change your root password. If so, you can open a...

Re: Password change issue!

Okay so how can I fix this? I tried changing the password again, logging in, logging out, rebooting, blanking my KDE back to default. I was reporting an issue I have and I would like to see how I can possibly fix this. I searched the internet and everything but nothing came up so I posted. I already...

Re: Password change issue!

Yeah that wifi issue has been going on for a while, maybe openSUSE should stop using ifup as default.
As for upgrading well I usually do it all in YAST

openSUSE13.1: Stable, fast, kicks lots of... well you know

openSUSE has always been a big contender of my favorite distros to use and 13.1 is no exception. While I love debian based distros and prefer them to rpm based distros openSUSE over the last few releases hjave stepped up thier game to make a nice clean OS that is just as rock solid as solyd on my sy...

Password change does not change admin (sudo) password

Okay I am unsure what has happened but now I have this bug I need to be fixed in SolydXK when I boot into it (been using openSUSE 13.1). Now I changed my main password just recently and usually on sudo based systems if you change the primary user password you change the password for administration. ...

Re: AntiX-13.2 bugfix and enhancements release

I am unsure if Mepis is worth it anymore though, while it was the distro I started with its certainly fell by the wayside.
Antix at least gets semi regular updates, its been outshining its parent to be sure.

Re: O Plymouth, Plymouth, wherefore art thou Plymouth?

The thing is that seeing terminal output on bootup is so old fashioned and makes new users think they will see nothing but code.
I say keep plymouth, as it does make things look a little less technical

ZevenOS Neptune: Another nice debian based distro

So I have some thoughts to say about a distro that has caught my attention recently called ZevenOS Neptune or just plain Neptune. Neptune is a debian based distro aimed at 64bit based computers but also aimed at new users. It offers a very similar experience to Solyd, with out of the box codecs and ...

Re: PCLinuxOS

I just wish it were easier to install non repo packages on PCliunux, you have to wait for package requests which is annoying. Yeah, they are pretty adamant about that in the forums. Ironic isn't it? They will scream about Windows having you walled in, but then you are still stuck with whatever is i...

Re: SolusOS is closing its doors

I too wish I knew programming to help out, if only I could get funds to go into programming classes. But I am very tight on funds these days. Truth be told I think there should be some collaboration between a few distros I have tried out that seem to have similar goals. Neptune OS, Solyd, Kwheezy an...
