Hi Schoelje,
Thank You, that's exactly what I needed. I can usually figure things out eventually but didn't think to look there.
It's appreciated!
Thanks for all you do,
Dave

[Solved] Thunderbird opening with every boot ...?
Seems like it's since a recent update but Thunderbird now opens whenever I boot to SolydK.
It just automatically opens. No idea why.
I looked in Autostart but there's nothing there.
Any ideas why it would do this, I would rather it didn't do this.
Thanks for any ideas,
Dave

[Solved] How to remove SolydK 201407 Lable from USB stick
Hi, I have a 16GB Sandisk SDcard which inserts into a USB thumbdrive. Previously I used usb creator (not sure of which version I used, it was a while ago, I suppose I could have even used Unetbootin, not sure) to make a Live USB with SolydK-32-bit 201407. Now I want to use the SD/USB card for someth...

Re: BACKUP - Clone partitions w/ Gparted - Sync w/ Lucky Bac
Palimmo, For Windows backup, my brother uses " Acronis True Image 2016 " Not sure but I don't think Acronis backs up Linux partitions, you would need to read up on their website. Looks like Clonezilla does it all and is probably what you are looking for. I can't recommend a procedure using Clonezill...

Re: BACKUP - Clone partitions w/ Gparted - Sync w/ Lucky Bac
In my case it would be useful a tutorial covering Windows as well, since most of the times (let's say always) I install Linux alongside Windows. So far I have never had particular problems, fortunately... but I would like, before seriously damage a pc of a friend, find a way to "clone" the hard dis...

Re: BACKUP - Clone partitions w/ Gparted - Sync w/ Lucky Bac
Hi Palimmo, You're very welcome. As I noted, feedback on improving any of this is most welcome. It's a little long winded in parts but I wanted to paint a clear picture and stress the most important points. I just hope it helps to get SolydXK users thinking about backing up their system. Backups hav...

Glad to hear that you found a fix!
I don't know much about systemmd but I do know that it's the nature of Linux users to keep digging until we find a solution ...
Good Job!

BACKUP - Clone partitions w/ Gparted - Sync w/ Lucky Backup
This is not the only means of backing up your system, it just the method I use. In a nutshell: A) Backup - Cut and Paste partitions using Gparted and store them on a Devoted Backup Hard Drive. B) Periodically - Keep the backup up-to-date using Lucky Backup. C) Restore - Cut and Paste backup to prima...

BACKUP - Clone partitions using Gparted
Just to reiterate, Backup your current system! Could you post a tutorial or suggest a link? That would be very useful! Thank you ;) Hi Palimmo, I didn't see a Tutorial for Backup on the forum. (Let me know if there's another, we can consolidate). Since it's such an essential tool to help maintain s...

Re: Jessie to Stretch
Just to reiterate, Backup your current system! No matter what happens you can always get back to your current system. I recently went from SolydK to SolydK EE and, for example, had a lot of problems with Plasma desktop ... ... fortunately I had a backup and easily reverted right back to J...

Hi,
I'm not really familiar with SLI but do remember reading something about enabling/ disabling SLI in the bios.
Just a thought, hope it helps.

Hi, Welcome to the forum,
SolydXK is easy to like ... I check out other distros from time to time but always come back to enjoying the Solyd/ Stable nature of this distro. "It just works" ... pretty much says it all.

Install from daily build went Smoooth ...
Kudos to the SolydXK team! I've not downloaded SolydXK for a while now but downloaded SolydK today via "Daily Build" torrent and all went well, nice job. I noted a couple of things you might want to check out and listed them below but they could be due to user error so take these with a grain of sal...

Never used it before.
Thanks for the information.

BE to Jessie cheat - Not Recommended unless you like danger.
A few weeks ago I did an HE to Jessie upgrade and all is working very nicely but it's a big upgrade. I wanted my (test) BE to also move to Jessie but didn't want to go through the long process of an upgrade from BE (Wheezy) to Jessie. I recommend waiting until Jessie is stable and the BE to Jessie u...

Sending Best Wishes your way ZZ ... We do miss your warm presence ... I honestly think I may not have delved into Linux without your help along the way ... now I'm totally "MS free" and a much happier camper.
Ya done good ... ZZ.

Re: Booting your usb stick using Virtual Box on a Linux host
Got it, used unetbootin to make a USB external HDD bootable, created .vmdk file for sdb (external HDD), changed permissions of .vmdk file to user then created a VM using the .vmdk file and pointing to ISO. VB now boots external HDD via USB and will install to any partitions on it. Should provide a b...

Re: Booting your usb stick using Virtual Box on a Linux host
Hey Snap, I thought I had it all figured out but found that (so far) I could only install a distro onto the usb itself, not onto my separate hard drive partition (VB partition). (i.e. Using gparted during install didn't see any HDD partitions, just USB partitions). Perhaps I can still get it to work...
