Re: Plymouth should be disabled by default

If there are people so afraid of scrolling text that they won't wait to see what happens when it stops, then what do you think they will do when it will not even boot and they get a blank screen with nothing? As for knowing they have a system that won't play well with something called Plymouth, to k...

Re: fsck

Newbie question . . . How exactly do I run fsck manually?
I understand boot from live media, but what do I do to run fsck on any particular drive/partition? I assume the terminal is used, but what commands? :?

Re: xfce4-weather-plugin fix SolydX Testing

Thank You! It may be a little thing, but I check it everyday and it has been broken for a while now. I have wasted some time also looking, only to find the update was not ready yet. Thank You Again, rokytnji, for this fix. You made my day! :ugeek:

Re: SolydXK Conky

Ran the new Conky 1.0.0 File. The conky works with the Update line omitted. Which at least looks better than the Update: nothing did. I know you are super busy and it is a very minor thing. It would be nice to have, but not to worry about it. CJTx2 The new file name is called updatemanager.hist and ...

Re: SolydXK Conky

I've noticed that if I use the "SolydXK Conky" manager I lose some changes I've made to ~/ .conkyrc and ~/.lua/scripts/ clock_rings.lua I keep a backup of .conkyrc and clock_rings.lua, so it's not a problem, but is there a template file for these somewhere that I could edit instead o that I can use...

OK. Maybe not exactly what I was thinking, but to each their own. I have to admit that there is a distinct difference between doing what I want to on my computer and doing what I have to do at work. :D One is play; one is . . . well, different shall we say. ;)

Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.04.15

Just wanted to report that Garfield (see my signature) gobbled up the SolydX 201404 update without a single hiccup or complaint. (He completely choked on the last LM13Xfce update. I have LM13 as a back up long term support partition in case SolydX gets too new to run on his 11 year old hardware, but...

Re: Install Nvidia Driver when DDM doesn't quite get it

Thank you so much, Scott. this was exactly what I needed. Read my sig and you will know that my 11 year old Garfield can be a real grouchy cat when he does not get fed exactly what he wants. He spit out LM13 with its last update and now only accepts SolydX. Thank you for keeping him going. I am coll...

Re: What do you remember as a kid?

Like other U.S. kids, I watched cartoons and others shows on TV Saturday mornings. I began listening to R&B and R&R music early on since my mother's two teenage sisters lived with us and that's what they listened to. It was a time when you could buy penny candy, $.05 cokes, and go to the movies on ...

no, it's not clean, sorry! this morning i only saw the ddm log (and that one AFAIK is good); [consulting logs at 5h30am in a smartphone in a bus in the way to work might not be ideal] anyway this P.S. Re: What tells you the seasons have changed?

 Well, I am such a homebody, I have never lived north of a little place called Marfa out in west Texas when I was a small child. I vividly remember following my dad through snow piled over my head to the back yard to build a snowman! We moved back to central Texas when I was five, so the snow ...

Re: Annual Report 2013

As you say, what a year! When I first followed from Mint, I was looking for a distro that would just boot my outdated equipment and buy me enough time to scrape together something newer. Then I found that SolydX not only booted  , but rejuvinated and infused enough life into the old to...

I agree with the above comments and am glad to see the kind of focus on stability, security, development and sustainability that will see this distro into the future. This addresses those goals and provides the time needed to "have a life". Hopefully, it will also enable you to keep the "desire" to ...

Re: Community help needed: userbars

First, thank you for your excellent work. While I am not myself artistic, I can appreciate one who is. You asked for opinions, so for what it is worth: I like test 10 with SolydXK logo because I use both, but a choice for each would be popular, too, I think. I also believe the lettering needs to be ...

Sorry, I just got back to this. Nepomuk cannot be removed, I'm afraid, but you can disable i...

So, looks like a lot of stuff to remove to me.
I think I would settle for turning both Zeitgeist and Nepomuk off. Can you tell me how to do that? :?
