Re: Driver for ATI RV710 [Radeon HD 4350/4550]

I have the Ati 4350 on dual displays using the open drivers. As there is no proprietary driver supported due to current xorg versions being incompatible. As card is a Legacy card no longer properly supported in recent changes to xorg system. A couple of years ago I could have done what you done if I...

Re: 2 Years since switching to Linux!

( dual boot in case I need to use some of the windows software although this is very infrequently). My own opinion is that while Linux could very well be used 100% for many households personal computing needs it still cannot really replace Windows for businesses . Sure if a business only needs an o...

Re: Digikam 4.1 freezes and crashes

I was considering switching to Linux Mint 17.1, but that is at Digikam 4.3.5, which wouldn't help the freezing. There is a ppa of the latest stable Digikam (4.6) available for Ubuntu though, so I guess I could use it with Mint. Same kind of things forced me to move from Debian based. As need newer ...

Re: Still Here

Yep is expected for one reason or another users changing when SolydXK makes major changes. For me was requiring newer kernels and applications like Gimp & Krita nearer to bleeding edge to support my Hurion graphics tablet. So went with Netrunner Rolling (Manjaro) and been problem free last 2 months....

Re: How did this happen

Nothing wrong and just a bug that cropped up in dealing with hybrid type .iso files vs. standard iso. Same thing fer me. And something to do with specific format used to create the iso. Snap on my Netrunner rolling Dolphin. So you can see it's not a SolydXK thing. iso.jpeg But they will burn just fi...

The actual systemd survey results page

The actual systemd survey results page shows some interesting results. Tho sample size is a little small for my liking. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1gCKnFnN_NYHzu5Y6dDnmf25TBw2mAr7TRiyRprz3-Vg/viewanalytics Also from 2011 which I never seen about the benefits. http://0pointer.de/blog/projects/wh...

Re: No search engines in firefox

Interesting, I don't even have a tab for search in my preferences section. Something is just not installed properly and I have uninstalled/reinstalled twice. Also I have noticed I can't open a link in a new tab or a new window. Well it is Firefox 34.0.5 in Netrunner. Hoping SolydXK is still up to d...

Re: I'm confuse

Yep catch 22 here in Linux World. As having drop dead stable and wanting the newer or latest apps are generally in conflict. As newer apps or Desktop need newer versions of underlying Libraries and Drivers and such. That are many times not in the repo or conflict with older installed base. Which bri...

Yep I guess I had a knee jerk reaction when he said:
Now with the change of course Solyd is taking I started looking at an alternative.
And didn't take in consideration that he was more likely wanting to go Gnome.

Thanks and keeping my eye on when Debian supports new enough versions and then can switch back to SolydXK.
Still have the Oct. 30th backup partitions that I can install then upgrade with I imagine.

Re: Not much going on in the forum lately

Personally haven't been around as was forced to go closer to bleeding edge. As needed support for my Hurion Graphics tablet support in kernel. And latest Gimp & Krita builds to be able to use tablet in the apps. As the older versions don't support it or usability was less than ideal. Running KDE Net...
