Re: LXQt 0.7.0 Released

Last night I used the "unstable repository" of Siduction (1) to install LXQt in a machine with Debian Unstable KDE. But it didn't work. Kdm wouldn't let me log in in a LXQt session. Anyway no worries about it.

Re: LXQt 0.7.0 Released

I installed LXQt on top of Linux Mint KDE as suggested at the 46:40 minute of this video (1) with the instructions on how to do it for Ubuntu (2). Many things don't work, like network manager applet and wifi internet connection. Opening applications it's much snappier than in KDE similar to LXDE and...

iso.zsync

I came across iso.zync today when I went to Debian Live Build to get a Wheezy KDE copy I had requested earlier. Intrigued by this file binary.hybrid.iso.zsync found ( https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ZsyncCdImage it updates an existing iso file with the newer version of the iso. Since LMDE XFCE/KDE...

Re: Thoughts on repository speed improvements

How does it handle the difference in package version? When you apt-get update, does it show the newer version in the mapped Debian repository? This would obviously be undesirable behavior. In theory if priority is given to the distribution rather than higher version and apt-preferences contain only...

Re: Thoughts on repository speed improvements

Seems apt-cacher-ng has a proposal about merging apt's requests for same packages from different repositories. In this case Debian and SolydXK.

Re: SolydXK and other Desktop Environments

Hope I get a bit of time and write a detailed "how to" install the Mint Fluxbox set up in Solydx. Not much different to openbox. From the few set ups of openbox and fluxbox I've seen, I think mint's was the more elegant one.

Re: Thoughts on repository speed improvements

The previous comment I made implies that might not be necessery to have online the whole UP. That concerns the Admins in case there are restrictions of space and bandwidth. I think users could use the existing repository structure and still achieve the same aim (downloading the majority of updates f...

Re: SolydXK and other Desktop Environments

LXDE has already be done here: http://lxlinux.com/debian.html I went through apt-get dist-upgrade of MInt 9 Fluxbox to Mint 14 and works OK. Also installed the mint 9 fluxbox setup in SolydXK and in wheezy netinst in virtual machine. The repository is still alive. deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ ...

Re: Thoughts on repository speed improvements

Yes, I forgot that, by the time a SolydXK sytem tries to update, the Debian testing repositories have changed further than the snapshot taken earlier from SolydXK Testing team. I don't know how important is the issue of SolydXK mirrors for the users. But if it is something (simple?) could be done to...

Thoughts on repository speed improvements

Since the solydXK repositories for the debian packages mirror the debian testing repositories, would pointing to them (maybe using the re-director for optimisation http://http.debian.net/) reduce the load on the solydXK servers and improve speeds for those who perform the update? I presume they'd do...

SolydXK iso in multisystem disk

I fail to add solydk32_latest.iso and solydx32_latest.iso in multisystem. I get this message "Error: ISO not supported for now". lmdekde32_up6sr1_201212.iso and lmdexfce32_up6sr1_201301.iso (the LMDE unofficial versions) can be added with no problem as it has until now any other linux distribution I...

Re: dual monitor screen

Yes both are (KrandrTray and arand) are front ends of xrandr. Hence the thought. Arandr doesn't do even a ..tenth of the functionality of KrandrTray. And looking at the seemingly endless options and combinations in xrandr --help, randr brings forward such a tiny portion of these options. It's just s...

Re: dual monitor screen

Sometime ago I thought, if KrandrTray (in KDE) does the trick if could "peep" in it a see what command it executes then I could put that command in a launcher and do the trick in XFCE too. But I didn't managed to find how to do it although I had seen somewhere that one can follow through terminal wh...

Re: dual monitor screen

Primary I mean the one that has the properties of a single display. The panel can be fixed (Panel preferences)t in the monitor or choice. I've set it on LVDS1. Other visual features (at least) like icons follow the primary monitor.

Re: dual monitor screen

cwwgateway I just did that (command in startup) and the result was the same the VGA1 (on the left) become primary monitor and the LVDS1 (on the right) secondary. If you put your LVDS1 on the right and HDMI1 on the left does LVDS1 stay primary? I tried to make VGA1 primary while sitting on the right ...

hi Iain, I have installed ssvnc and works fine. It connects to a vino server (LMDE XFCE in local network) and works well.
