Re: [SolydX] Xfce-taskmanager

This decision dates back to the unofficial LMDE Xfce days. Personally I prefer lxtask because it gives memory in numbers (I'm using 870 MB of RAM right now) instead of percentages. I find the interface and output cleaner and easier to understand. Also, with both of them running at the same time, it ...

Re: Is this the correct way to get past the kernel/plymouth

What's the output of this?

Code: Select all

cat /etc/apt/preferences
I don't think editing 00local is necessary; your apt preferences should control what repostiory you're installing packages from.

 Well I love KISS (and I'm not particularly fond of Unity  ), and KDE can look really great when it's kept simple.

Re: New Kernel won't install

Ok good. You're tracking Debian Testing and your preferences are correct. First run this: sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/experimental.list And add this line: deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian experimental main Save the file and run: sudo apt-get update Finally, run: sudo apt-get install -t experim...

Re: New Kernel won't install

kwisher, are you tracking Debian Testing or SolydXK Testing (if you aren't sure post the output of inxi -r)?

And I believe the solution is to install plymouth from experimental. First, let's make sure your apt pinning is correct by posting the output of the following:

Code: Select all

cat /etc/apt/preferences

Sorry I'm not quite sure what you're looking for. But you can look in the changelogs: The libc6 changlelog is here: http://ftp-master.metadata.debian.org/changelogs//main/e/eglibc/eglibc_2.17-5_changelog To find changelogs search package names here: http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages#search_pack...

Re: Did you use the debian-multimedia.org repo?

I reinstall too often for this to be an issue

Makes me feel young though... By the time I ventured beyond the default sources.list in LMDE it had already changed to deb-multimedia.org I think.

Re: Naming scheme for DVD images.

This is only true for the first ISOs (released in the beginning of March). The April ISOs were (for example) solydx32_201304.iso. The SolydK BO ISO I happen to have downloaded is solydkbo_201305_b1.iso (b1 for Beta 1). This name scheming should continue with the June ISOs (so solydx32_201306.iso).
