Re: KDE Libreoffice Calc locks up - FYI solved

I haven't checked to see if the problem still exits with LO 4.1.4.2. If I ever "get round to it" I'll post back unless someone beats me to it. Otherwise, so far, I haven't noticed any ill effects. Also want to check it out on the Slackware & Salix OS's loaded on another puter to see if the issue is ...

KDE Libreoffice Calc locks up - FYI solved

I just wanted to let folks know what I did to solve the problem of LibreOffice Calc locking things up - resulting in a hard boot. The problem was moving a group of highlighted cells resulting in Calc locking things up. I tried a fresh spreadsheet with data and same problem. Internet search turned up...

Re: Acer Aspire V5 w/ SolydK?

Didn't see the post until tonight - I have a machine listed below - seems to run KDE OK. I haven't had any trouble with 2 Acer laptops, this being the 2nd. My wife has a 17" Gateway (low-medium end) (Acer owned) and has been OK also. Machine: System: Acer product: V5-131 version: V1.09 Mobo: Acer mo...

Re: Web Hosting - any suggestions

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll definitely look at Dreamhost. I should wait until I have some time, have some projects to do / finish here before the snow flies; but getting antsy (impatient) to get this going. Daylight is getting shorter so I don't work so late in the evening, maybe that will hel...

Re: google as search engine can't enable it in Firefox Solyd

Do you mean setting the home page?? If so in Firefox: Go to preferences (if using the "Menu bar" it's under the Edit tab, then Preferences, OR if the "Menu bar" is not showing just click on Firefox (top upper left), then Preferences In Preferences under the General Tab and in the box next to "Home P...

Re: Print Que

@timber yep, the printer applet icon showed up on the panel bar last night after sending 3 print jobs to the network printer, using the old laptop. Worked OK, confused me at first though, showed the print jobs (at least to me) like they hadn't finished but I knew they had, then I hit the refresh but...

Web Hosting - any suggestions

Hi all, Any recommendations for web hosting. My needs at this point would be modest: website, email, some storage, down the road WordPress ready, etc. It would be for a small computer repair, setups, consulting, education business. Mostly for individuals and other small businesses (relatively low ke...

Re: Print Que

Above may work - new to SolydXK - if not try I usually just use CUPS (common unix printing system) In your web browser address bar just type localhost:631 this should access CUPS click on the jobs tab at the top (5th one from the left) you should see the print jobs that are waiting and cancel the on...

Re: Hi all from Dolores County Colorado USA

Thanks for the replies - if things go well on the laptop (feeling they will) I'll probably switch the desktop from Salix to SolydXK when I get some time. It's the main file server and backs up all the things you would hate to lose; "does the heavy lifting so to speak" computer wise around here. Been...

Hi all from Dolores County Colorado USA

Just finished setting things up on an older Acer laptop (AMD Sempron 1.6 GHz) they way I like and didn't run into any problems. Some history - I started more seriously with Linux when I was getting machines with MS Vista loaded at work and was totally not impressed, (I was a Network Admin/ IT guy at...
