Re: UP and BE/BO 2014.04.15

Hi all, A few comments on the update if I may: What happened to all this extra testing that the three monthly update cycle was supposed to buy us? The update script leaves me about 3 sec to answer several questions on replacing config files with developer versions - if this is a real question please...

Re: UP process change

Hmmm, it seems to me that the real problem is that these updates have been getting too big - 500MB+ month on month is getting ridiculous. Maybe some pressure back on package developers to slow down and test more would be sensible. Firefox for example is one big offender, it features on the list show...

Re: UP 2013.10.06 12:00 UTC [PRODUCTION]

OK, thanks for the interesting links, I seem to be in the same position as Soapm in the first link. Anyway, now I have the option of booting the 3.10.whatever kernel or the self-compiled 3.9 one so I'm happy. I'm not going to bother recompiling - no real benefit.

Thanks again!

Re: UP 2013.10.06 12:00 UTC [PRODUCTION]

Hi kyoedv, I went through your list of images and headers and downloaded a couple of linux-headers that were missing; when I reinstalled linux-image-3.10-3-686-pae I got the same FATAL message that cpuid was not found; looking at the /boot/config- file for the working kernel (i.e. one of the 3.9.<da...

Re: UP 2013.10.06 12:00 UTC [PRODUCTION]

Zerozero - Thanks for the solution - I've downloaded the image-pae metapackage and it installs ok with one issue: FATAL: Module cpuid not found Then installation completes and I can boot to the latest kernel. Maybe the missing cpuid module explains the lack of complete updating? Is there a package t...

Re: UP 2013.10.06 12:00 UTC [PRODUCTION]

zerozero; - no, looking at the lists I have the Linux headers for the 3,10.* kernel versions but not the linux-image files installed! I don't know how the image files didn't install on recent updates (through the normal update tool). The 3.9....<somedate> files were compiled and installed from packa...

Re: UP 2013.10.06 12:00 UTC [PRODUCTION]

Hi guys, What's the story with kernel upgrades? My (solydX) kernel is stuck on 3.9 something and I wasn't even offered the choice to upgrade it as part of this latest set of package updates. There seem to be several 3.10 linux-image packages for 486, 686, pae etc. How to get the kernel upgrading un...
