Re: How about we do a virutal Jessie Release Party!
Obviously, it was very clear to me that I REALLY need SolydXK. :) Definitely, me too! I still have the Wheezy(Xfce) install, and it was fun to play with, Heck, it's even usable out of the box. But as you say, there is a ton of config from bare Debian to a "sweet spot". Gotta have my Solyd! :D Edit:...

Re: How about we do a virutal Jessie Release Party!
For some unknown reason I've never had any success with Debian's live dvds on my hardware. I always wind up with broken X (no screens found). I have been historically too lazy to get to the bottom of it, and after a few days tinkering I just decided, as Snap said, that it's just plain easier to use ...

Re: solydxk-system 2.6.2 update error
I don't know what your final objective was; I was upgrading a SolydKBE install to Wheezy using the instructions in this post: http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=5246 I ran into the same error. I solved it by purging solydkbe-system-adjustments, and then continuing from where I left off. I...

Re: BE to Wheezy upgrade
Thanks Frank and Arjen, I'll give it a whirl and report back.
Edit:
solydk-system-adjustments_2.0.8 worked fine; apt did indeed ignore the missing recommend. All is well. Thank you both again!

Assuming that baloo will be installed as a recommend for the Jessie folks who are also installing solydk-system-adjustments...
Could Wheezy folks then get around it as a recommend with?

Re: BE to Wheezy upgrade
First, I apologize in advance if this was covered elsewhere and I missed it. I hesitated for a long time to bug you folks about an old system, you've enough to do keeping up with Jessie as it matures... Attempting to move SolydK-BE to Wheezy sources (Copy-pasted from the OP), I'm stuck here: dv7-127...

Re: Firefox problem freezes SolydX
This can be a real problem on some laptops, as it requires three hands! On my HP, by the time I'm holding [alt + (fn+sysrq)] All available hands are in use, and my fingers can't reach the other keys. So I need to call a buddy over to press R-E-I-S-U-B... Doc, do I really gotta hold all these k...

Re: Plymouth should be disabled by default
I'm afraid I have to throw in with Nuke and Zill as far as my personal feelings go. However this doesn't really worry me as I never have much trouble getting rid of stuff I don't want, no matter the defaults.

Bravo! I think it was Janeane Garofalo who said that the masses are not arbiters of the sublime, so it's incumbent upon us not to fit in -- "...if you behave in a manner pleasing to most, then you are probably doing something wrong."  I'm one of these odd ducks who always finds myself...

Re: Plymouth should be disabled by default
I'd love to have the option during installation ....It just a cosmetic thing that serves for nothing else than masking the booting process. Agreed, I'm a function over form person, which is part of the reason I never got any good with themes. Aesthetics ain't my bag. I'd like to not have to deal wi...

Re: Greybird-Solydx/Desktop Icon Label Text Color
It's a nice idea keeping the original theme. Make a copy of it with your favorite name "greybird-fleabus" and tweak it to fit your taste or make different versions to compare or just to keep them. Yes, I already did that, I chose the "Curve" window decoration because I like the narrow, dark blue ti...

Re: Plymouth should be disabled by default
My system is Nvidia 9600m/GT. Plymouth works fine on it. But I don't like to use splash screens, so Plymouth is always the first thing to go. I was a bit dismayed to find that there is now no selectable "Boot Without Plymouth" option. However, as the ISO booted, I hit Enter to stop the countdown, th...
Re: USB Phone
I have never had any trouble connecting my Samsung S5 in Solyd. A little weirdness though. I cannot move files on the phone, I must delete from the phone, then and re-copy to the new location on the phone, whether or not I have USB debugging turned on. It's weird, but I don't worry about it, I'm jus...
