Re: Accounting and Invoice software - Akaunting

Thanks guys. I never thought about installing Mono in a Linux VM. I guess thats an option. But is is necessary? Will a virtual machine isolate me from a virus? If so, wouldn't it isolate a windows machine just as well? If a virtual machine does NOT isolate me from a virus, than isn't Mono inside a l...

Re: Accounting and Invoice software - Akaunting

Let me try this again. I think I had some confusion here in regards to the VM. The way I see it I have 4 options. Which would you recommend for a one man business. 1) Install Manager (Not the server edition) - This is a .NET/Mono program with a .deb file that installs easily. All data remains on my ...

Re: Accounting and Invoice software - Akaunting

I did come across https://www.manager.io/ that looks like a decent cross platform system. But I don't like that it uses mono-project. I get an unsettled feeling when I see those .dll and .exe files on my computer. Just use a virtual machine. I'll do that to test it ... as soon as I find the time :(...

Re: Accounting and Invoice software - Akaunting

To reconcile your accounts is the process of comparing the monthly statement that the bank sends out and matching it to your personal records. ... Re: Accounting and Invoice software - Akaunting

Martin - I am currently using Quickbooks for my business and KMyMoney for personal use. GnuCash could possibly work for my business if they had a list of items to select from for my services and if their invoicing setup was better. I don't want to deal with the hassle of having to input all my invoi...

Re: Accounting and Invoice software - Akaunting

I am in the USA. Thats a good point about different accounting requirements. I have been playing with Akaunting, but unfortunately, it appears it may not have a reconcile feature. So it wouln't be able to be used to maintain a banking/checking account. I'll keep testing though and post back if I fin...

Accounting and Invoice software - Akaunting

Recently I've been looking into bookkeeping software to use for small business. I am just a sole proprietor doing service work. So I don't need anything complicated. Yet traditional software like gnucash doesn't quite fit my needs either. So I have been scouring the internet the last few days trying...

Re: KDESudo error during install

Yep thats the popup I had too. Your better than me though. I didn't know you could print up a transcript of the install. Thats a lot of pages to look through. Yet somehow I saw your note in all of that stuff in the middle of page 25. I did not see any errors either though. (Apart from some local err...

Do you have the correct time zone set? You can check out your time settings here:

System Settings > Date and Time (Date and time are listed under Administration near the bottom of the page)

Re: KDESudo error during install

UPDATE; I did another install with the internet disabled. During that install I never got the warning. However, I was informed that the system would not be localized, so that was a bummer. But at least I know my install doesn't have errors. The sudo error must be something to do with updating the so...

Re: No more Unity

... I just finished a MS SharePoint certification course wherein the instructor was all about how nice and intuitive it was to just type on the Windows Server 2012 R2 desktop and have a selection of matching programs automagically appear in a selection list. And he's right - if you know the name of...

Re: No more Unity

I wouldn't miss Unity if it died at all. Although, I do think Unity had the best Global menus. No one does global menus as well as Unity did. I almost switched to Ubuntu just because I loved the way the top bar switched between menu and title bar as the mouse hovered over it. It was fantastic use of...

KDESudo error during install

I just did a fresh install of SolydK8 201701. During the install I got an error popup box that said some thing about kdesudo not found. Does anyone else get this. I tried it twice with the same results. I hate to send the system out the door with my father in law if I just did a faulty install that ...

Re: No more Unity

I saw that too. I've played with Ubuntu but never really used it. I really didn't like the menu in Unity. I loved the look of the rest of the desktop and I really wanted to switch to Ubuntu, but I just hated not having a normal menu that listed out the installed programs in an easy to use format. Th...

Re: SolydNeon

grabbing the nightly iso would be the hardest route. you'll need to update your system from jessie to stretch. that's a long and risky process. did I misunderstood something here? somehow I think you were mean using the latest solydK-ee iso. if that true, yes, that's also another easy method to get...

kurotsugi wrote:...the best route to get stable K would be using debian's testing ISO then solydk-ing it.
Why would this be better than grabbing the latest nightly iso and just changing the repos to the SolydK9 and Stretch repos? Wouldn't I then get all the SolydK goodness as it matures to the final product?

Re: SolydNeon

No SolydK looks great. I appreciate the business approach that Scheolje takes. I think SolydK is very professional. I also think SolydK has the right package selection. Although the inclusion of Virtualbox might be a good idea for business users. There is still a lot of proprietary stuff thats neede...

SolydNeon

OK. I know SolydXK is built on Debian and not changing. I have just been looking at KDE Neon recently and dreaming about what the ideal Neon based distro sould look like to me. In short I came down to SolydK based on Neon LTS. Right now the best Neon based options would be Neon LTS or Maui. Neon LTS...
