Been playing with the Yandex Browser (Beta for Linux) which is faster than any I've ever used but the Russian language primarily used is sometimes problematic. If they come out with an English vers...

EE has some added features that I like and might change to it after a more detailed comparison but still require ...

Re: VLC seg fault

Progress has been made :) Changing to the 2.2.4-1~deb8u1 and then reinstalling VLC has appeared to fix the issues on my unit (after vlc-data change the system showed VLC as uninstalled) although I have not throughly tested it totally yet normal functioning is evident. Synaptic showed the 2.2.0~pre3-...

Re: VLC seg fault

Forgive the lengthy delay as I have been on holiday and had limited access. The issue on my machine does not appear to have a solution and VLC continues to show the "weatherwax" error and repeatedly either crashes or won't initiate correctly. My daughter purchased a brand new Toshiba sattelite and a...

VLC seg fault

SolydX with current updates. Since the latest kernel I found that VLC was unstable and giving the "VLC media player 2.2.0-pre3 Weatherwax (revision 2.2.0-pre3-0-ga15bef7) Segmentation fault" error. Purged VLC and reinstalled from software manager. The only way to open it is using the "vlc -I qt4 --r...

Re: Mysterious downloading

It is hard to say what happened.
Possibly an installed application updated itself or you've picked up some browser malware. It wouldn't hurt to run a Clam TK scan of your home folder and a system scan with RKhunter if you have them installed.

Re: EE Repository issue

After updating apt was able to reinstall from synaptic. Older version updated itself today to 2.7.7 normally. No idea what all transpired but solved nonetheless so all is back to normal. Here is the inxi output for reference > Repos: Active apt sources in file: /etc/apt/sources.list deb http://mirro...
