Re: USB Creator

I edited my previous post because I was not finished with testing. I really think mount issues (and the USB bus hanging up) are at laest partly the source of the problems. Ok, I was too hasty to stop the repair function, Repair took about 10 min. A working progress bar for the repair funktion would ...

Re: USB Creator

I'm sticking to this thread for USB creator bug reports. I know its not top priority but I need to drop the debugging info somewhere. Edit: I think the problems are mostly due to not correctly unmounting. Problems I noticed: Deleting an ISO works ok, but if I close the window after delete, the pen d...

Re: Solydxk restarts without loading from grub

Just in case this happens again: a good way to search for errors is journalctl |grep -C 5 error cat /var/log/syslog |grep error cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log |grep EE cat ~/.xsession-errors |grep error Instead of "error" you can use grep with every word that seems useful (ERROR, err, warning, ACPI, USB .....

Uh I did not consider SolydK in any way - can you please list the packages that have to remain so that I don't kick them out the next time?

Re: SolydX packages

autoremove does absolutely nothing, of course I checked that first, I'm not stupid. I guess Arjen did that before building the ISO. a list of manually installed packages then change ... apt-mark showmanual lists almost everything, only 3 packages are automatic. All other commands read either apt or ...

See SolydX package check here: viewtopic.php?f=78&t=7567&p=70396#p70396

And please don't forget to add the ~/.config/package-update-indicator/package-update-indicator.conf for the update icon, I've edited my previous post.

SolydX packages

I replicated what was done here: https://forums.solydxk.com/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=7550#p70389 on my test SolydX VM (May ISO): apt purge mariadb-common - 222 MB. This also removed simple-scan so: apt install simple-scan sane-utils + 21 MB. (skanlite was for the SolydK image, right? It pulls lots of KD...

Re: Firefox/waterfox and DoH - what default to choose?

your tendency to jump into conclusion made me a lil bit worried...like...how come dnssec-trigger comes as conclusion when it's not even mentioned once. that aside, neither dnssec-trigger, unbound or bind9 works with dnscrypt. isn't it already implemented on dnscrypt? I did not jump to any conclusio...

Re: clamav-freshclam doesn't start ...

Strange, mariadb-client-core-10.3 is not installed on my test VM, I explicitly checked that. So I completely missed the track but still found the opencv easteregg :D I noticed that the ISOs are steadily growing in size although core components don't (at least not that much) so we need to keep an eye...

Re: Support for Solydx 9 after 10 goes live

About support: what kurotsugi said. About wine: I've never used crossover so I don't know about that. I'm running POL 4.2.10-2 (I downloaded the deb-file) with wine versions 1.3.12, 1.7.37 and 2.20 for office/business applications and I have no problems at all. I migrated these installations from je...

I'll test it next week on my laptop to see how it behaves in different wireless networks.

Re: clamav-freshclam doesn't start ...

On my system uid and gid are needed, otherwise the log file is created for root and freshclam fails. This needs to be corrected on the new ISO and probably also on already installed systems because freshclam not updating is unexpected behaviour. On a SolydX10June VM which has no tmpfs the permission...

Re: Support for Solydx 9 after 10 goes live

It will get supported as much as possible with a very small team like ours. But, to solve your wine problems: Use playonlinux and choose whichever wine version you need. POL is a wrapper that allows you to create different prefixes with different wine versions. If you do gaming, lutris is better sup...

Re: Only boots to Grub Prompt after Buster GRUB (Solydx-ee) update

You can upload files in this forum, just scroll down and you see the "attachments" tab. That's easier for people who don't use google (like me). You did not forget to issue "sudo update-grub" after fixing grub, right? (I know I did before.) I managed to solve my grub problems ( https://forums.solydx...

Re: Firefox/waterfox and DoH - what default to choose?

Not at the moment, this is something that needs to be discussed, because Firefox will change their configuration int the (near?) future and then we'll need to know what to do. We've had an extensive discussion locally and the common opinion is that 1. The proposed change to use cloudflare is a move ...

Re: Firefox security update not showing for EE

Security issues in stable and old-stable get fixed as soon as possible, with minimal waiting period as you can see in the security tracker - CVE-2019-11707 is fixed on both. There is certainly no 5 days delay for stable. Stable got the fix on tuesday, old-stable on thursday and testing/buster is sti...

Re: Firefox security update not showing for EE

Firefox ESR is provided by Debian, nothing we can do about that. Actually its fixed in all supported versions but not in buster - because buster is testing and still not stable (so security updates are not a priority). That's debian policy. If you want to get all security updates asap use stable (or...

Re: SolydXK 10 Preview and Testing

I'll look into it. Here's an unsolved post about the problem https://debianforum.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=172036 . The developer has deprecated pk-update-icon in favor of his new project package-update-indicator . Actually pk-update-icon in buster is now only a dummy package for package-update-indic...
