Re: Latest Waterfox Classic and SolydX 9

Yeah, already reported: https://github.com/MrAlex94/Waterfox/issues/1525. Please chime in there. I don't understand why Alex is not getting a grip on his build system. In the meantime you should not update. Edit: After having a closer look I think he decided he is not going to support anything lower...

Firefox update to 74 or 75 mismatch? (solved)

The update manager hangs while it tries to update to firefox 74.01 but the repo only has v. 75.01. Is it just me experiencing this mismatch?

We do. It's called wine and works pretty well.

I don't think anybody on the team is interested in supporting anything that runs under Windows. Why would we?

I don't know much about those raid modes but I think you need to switch the Win installation to AHCI. No idea how to do that. I remember having seen Win raid drivers ...

Re: solydx-system-settings

Yes that sounds plausible. I've raised the same concerns before, but I think it was too difficult with the existing code. You see, code is usually growing kind of organically ... or to put it negatively, you have code and if you need another function you add it somewhere and then some more and then ...

Re: Printer HP Laser Jet 1018 does not work properly

This is most probably due to the gnupg key HP uses https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/1818629. HP explains the process here https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/hplipDigitalCertificate.html I'm guessing that the keyserver is down due to last years keyserver attack. Here's a tut...

Re: solydx-system-settings

Yeah I remember we had that discussion about mounting evrything previously but for some reason it was not possible to change. I can't find that old discussion. a. Installer: The installer needs to know what exact partitions are present and also what's on them to reach sane defaults. Do you have any ...

Re: Which Unicode fonts to install for Egyptian Hieroglyphs

Everything looks ok, so I don't know ... You could check another browser (waterfox, chromium). But maybe it's something in font config you inherited from Debian stretch. I don't have an updated system so I don't know. Only thing I can tell you is that it works correctly on a fresh install of SolydXK.

Re: Printer shows error code

This is not in any way connected to SolydXK. You'll have to ask HP customer service or consult your printers manual. Maybe there's a chance somebody has seen this before but I doubt it.

Re: chromium-solydxk-adjustments

I reinstalled and re-removed - the json file stayed. The master preferences file was changed correctly though. And yeah, I'd say remove that setting. Otherwise audio problems are too difficult to debug for the user. I know I searched for several hours before I remembered to check whether deinstallin...

chromium-solydxk-adjustments

I had chromium-solydxk-adjustments installed some time ago for testing purposes and uninstalled it again. But the uninstall procedure forgot to remove /etc/chromium/policies/recommended/solydxk_policy.json. Also "recommended" does not work the way you'd think it does. It's actually enforcing the inc...

Re: SolydK on Alienware m15 R2

After reading some more I'm sure it's a BIOS problem. This https://www.dell.com/community/Linux-General/Area-51m-help-installing-Linux-as-Dual-Boot/m-p/7318601#M22391 makes me think that the SSD might be running in raid mode. Disable intel raid in bios and switch to AHCI. They are talking about Ubun...

Re: Cannot get cron/gnome schedule etc. to work

I'm wondering why ... I'm sure it is not the laptop. And there are already cron jobs running on our system.

What exactly did you try to do with cron? And how did it fail? Copy/paste error messages please.

Re: Get the "F" Out

The Facebook Container addon has been present since 2018. Why are they advertising it now? Strange. Anyway, people who regularly use social networks - and log in! - should definitely use it. But the addon is useless for everybody else. Why have a container for something you never use? Just use fanbo...

Re: SolydK on Alienware m15 R2

I'm wondering why fdisk sees only 2 disks with 30GB called "USB disk 3.0". This looks like two 32GB pen drives. The laptop is supposed to have 2 drives with 1 TB each. They don't show up. Storage Your computer supports one of the following configurations: • One M.2 2230/2280 solid-state drive • Two ...

Re: Get the "F" Out

The link in your post is an email adress? And what do you mean by "received an offer"? I'm not sure what you are talking about.

The recommended way to block facebook and others is to blacklist them in uBlock origin. There's even a preconfigured list you can chose ("fanboys social").
