Re: I want SolydK and no SolydX

The R9 290 "Hawaii" GPU doesn't work well with the Radeon driver. And searching for it I see reports about failure with KDE - whereas XFCE works. These GPUs (GCN 1.0 and GCN 1.1) are difficult because they fall into AMDs transition period in between radeon and amdgpu driver. Your card is GCN 1.1 typ...

Re: Where are the environment variables displayed by "env"?

There are a LOT of environment variables displayed by "env". Nobody has the time to write a digest on it. You'll have to research that yourself if you are interested. https://wiki.debian.org/EnvironmentVariables (systemd and PAM are involved) and https://standards.freedesktop.org/ are good starting ...

Re: VirtBox USB support needs the user to be in the vboxusers group

1. Please do not remove Midnight Commander but readd mc. Midnight commander is extremely useful if for some reason you have to use the (rescue) console. It's really small and adds a lot of comfort, so why not? 2. Leave out htop, no problem. 3. I can't tell you why but USB support started working as ...

VirtBox USB support needs the user to be in the vboxusers group

... could we have that per default please?

And, as I just noticed, the package mc is missing in the ISO (while mc-data is there) and also htop would be nice.

Re: (solved) Restore SolydX defaut desktop settings (whisker menu)

This just happened to me too - I inserted a pen drive, started gparted (which took endlessly to scan the devices) and the system suddenly rebooted. Weird. Gone where the whisker menu settings, the solydx icon and the change user icon now is grey-on grey. But I wouldn't want to loose all my xfce sett...

Re: Installer Bugs

You do that. There's more important stuff.

I'm not sure but from this thread https://forums.solydxk.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7358 I think that the installer installed EFI on a MBR disk. Is that supposed to work?

Re: Boot up failed after installation of SolydX x64 201807. Grub rescue message.

fdisk shows that you have an EFI partition and bootinfoscript shows /efi/solydx/grubx64.efi on sda4. So it's EFI. grub is on sda, that's ok. fdisk also says: "Disklabel type: dos" - that's the old MBR type. You could double-check this in a live system: sudo parted -l sudo dmidecode -t0 | grep -Ei "B...

Re: Installer Bugs

Ok, so this weird look - yellow window half over the logo - is intended. Never mind, I thought this was another too sticky splash screen. It's not obvious that you are supposed to click on it. And there's a lot of empty yellow that doesn't fit the general design. Maybe cut the yellow and move it to ...

Installer Bugs

I'm just now installing solydx_9_64_201808.iso in a Vbox VM. The Installer splash screen still sits in front of the "create partition?" window and doesn't move or vanish before you answer the question you can't see. The Distrowatch.com window looks strange on the Welcome screen. And as I sugggested ...

Re: Boot up failed after installation of SolydX x64 201807. Grub rescue message.

I'm not sure but you seem to have an EFI system so Arjen's old tutorial might not work. I don't have time at the moment but if grub complains about anything I usually boot into the install media again and try to investigate from there. bootinfoscript (download from sourceforge I think, use in termin...

Re: Power Manager issues

Huh? I said several times that I'm talking about deactivating suspend in the settings by changing to standby. But still every answer I get is about suspend ... Re: [Solved] Can't install, can't boot

For me SolydK boots without problem from a USB pen drive with several ISOs on it. I created the pen drive with Solydxk's USB Creator. I don't know the software you used, but generally the multisystem software has to know the distributions it integrates. Since Solydxk is a small distribution I'm gues...

I tested the "login required after sleep" checkbox and it works as expected. Re: Power Manager issues

I don't want my PC to go to sleep or suspend, I want my PC to be on but I want the monitor to be blanked if I move away from my desk which was what it did do. "Standby" is neither "sleep" nor "suspend". I just tested with package from testing and the settings I described above - after being away fo...
