Re: Cannot upgrade!..

Please give at least some information about your system. And "ASAP" is not polite.

Re: Viber not really working!..

I have no idea what "Viber" is and frankly, if you shout "ASAP" at me, I don't care.

Re: update xfce4-weather-plugin ?

We've had similar problems with the weather plugin some time ago. This needs to be fixed upstream. Actually, it seems to be fixed upstream https://gitlab.xfce.org/panel-plugins/xfce4-weather-plugin/-/issues/23 but the solution does not build with the stable xfce version 4.12. There's a description h...

Re: package-kit replaced software manager / missing icons + translation

Definitely less buggy, especially considering the upcoming server move, my testing with packagekit ran into errors, so I'd say yes

Re: Very slow boot SolydX 9 with SSD

I cannot comment on SolydX 201807. I don't have it anymore and I have no idea why you are trying to do anything with it. I remember that it served me well but that past is long gone. It's EOL since July. Support from Debian is limited to security updates only. Your processor is 64-bit as far as I ca...

Hm, weird. We were already discussing to replace the packagekit-updater with synaptic-in-update-modus. Your experience seems to be a plus for synaptic.

Re: SolydXK Upgrade Script - it is still up-to-date ?

We are a small team and there are always a lot of things on our to-do-list, so no - nobody will work on scripts for past updates. It's almost time to work on the next one. You'll have to rely on reports of other users. As a general recommentation regarding the Debian version upgrades for regular non...

Re: package-kit replaced software manager / missing icons + translation

Yep, I think so too. The picture belongs to a software that's not there anymore and needs to be changed/removed.

And I prefer updating with packagekit because its simpler.

Re: package-kit replaced software manager / missing icons + translation

Actuallay, I think I would prefer packagekit for the update because the interface is simpler. But I'll test synaptic on the next update. You mean to replace "Packages" with "Synaptics" in the start menu's favorites section (left row with icons)? Yes definitely. I've always done this. Synaptic is goo...

Re: package-kit replaced software manager / missing icons + translation

Don't we need packagekit for the updates? I think gpk-update-viewer calls packagekit. Let's leave it alone. I think I know what happened to the icons (it seems that Gnome changed icon names) but I haven't found a fix. XFCE's dependency on Gnome will bite us in the a.. sooner or later anyway. Well, n...

Re: Where is the software manager?

You are right. But it's difficult to keep up with changes happenning elsewhere - in this case it's a component coming from Gnome developers - especially since we don't use every component ourselves. I'm not even sure what exactly changed. Definitely the icons are missing. We'll have to see whether i...

Re: seeking Inkscape tutorial

I can't see whats on your canvas but I can see in the XML that there should be a circle-like object (ellipse on path 4750). And it should be an outline (fill:none;...;stroke-width:0.99999994). Maybe you selected the color white? White on white is difficult to see :-) Change the xml of the ellipse st...

Re: Where is the software manager?

Which system are you using? Solydx or Solydk? Please always mention. I'm guessing X(fce) - you can use Synaptic which I recommend but since you are asking for Software Manager .. well I remember there was somethingwith that name .. but now its named "Packages" and the menu entry is not localized. Al...

Re: seeking Inkscape tutorial

Just in case you missed something simple: Look at the tools sidebar, choose the one for circles, click somewhere on your canvas, hold ctrl if you want it to stay perfectly "circley" and move your mouse. That's it. To edit it's properties I usually edit the xml data in the xml editor which you can op...

Re: nvidia settings not retained

I searched the internet for "nvidia-settings save debian" and found lots of postings from the last 5 years - it seems to be a persistent problem. Since I do not have nVidia I cannot test any of the proposed solutions. If nothing else works try a startup script as workaround like here https://www.red...

Re: Thunderbird 60.3.1 (64-bit) doesn't open hyperlinks

Yep, good. I was a bit brassed about that absolutely stupid exploit made possible by xdg-open although browsers had already disabled the feature. Sorry about that. To whoever else reads this: Apparmor is a very good thing. Editing the thunderbird profile to suit your setup is not very hard if anythi...

Re: Thunderbird 60.3.1 (64-bit) doesn't open hyperlinks

I would strongly recommend NOT to deactivate apparmor for thunderbird and I would recommend to delete the script in thunderbird-solydxk-adjustments because of this exploit: https://forums.solydxk.com/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=7855. Even if it gets fixed, another exploit might come along. User who wish to...

Sorry for german language: https://www.heise.de/news/Datenklau-ueber-Mailto-Links-4875586.html. This is a serious issue which is stopped by apparmor.
