Re: Grub is installed and updated, but doesn't start the system

I don't think the problem has anything to do with multiboot or windows. That's just coincidence in the other threads. Everywhere I look it has something to do with incompatibilties between lvm and udev, but I can't see any traces of lvm in you output. You'd also know about lvm if you used it.

Re: Grub is installed and updated, but doesn't start the system

Looking at the blkid output you do not have a boot partition. That's ok. You need a live system because you can't modify the system while it's running. The udev warning is usually seen with lvm (logical volume management) because of a bug, but you don't use that. This thread indicates that hardware ...

Re: Is it a rolling release or a point release?

What kurotsugi said is true for 64bit.
32bit is not rolling in any way any more. SolydX10 will be the last one, good for another 4 years. See my other post.

Re: Hi from the UK

You should stay with what you have. 32bit is on the decline. It will get regular updates during the regular Debian support period (depending whether you have SolydX9 or 10) but most probably there will not be a new version anymore. I see you installed 9 - there is going to be a 10 version released s...

Re: Dead key <dead_abovering>

Thanks for coming back to this! I would love to have all these keys dead. Tilde too. But if you press the key 2 times you get the undead version, right? Like with the "roof" key ^ (which is the same as <abovering> just without shift)? Single press dead â, double press undead ^? Looking for the right...

Re: Gnome-keyring problems (with chromium) [partly solved]

I'm not exactly sure what this desktop file does but couldn't it start a script including a window with a prompt like "Enter your user password to setup the keyring" ? I really wonder how other distros do this ... somehow we are missing the right solution. --------------- As for the second problem (...

Re: Gnome-keyring problems (with chromium) [partly solved]

There is not much we can do for existing users. I'm trying to find a good solution for the new ISO release. pam/lightdm should create the keyring upon first login but it obviously doesn't. Documentation is bad. I'm probably going to open an issue with canonical but no idea whether anything comes fro...

Re: [Solved]Lightdm does not show new users

I'd always recommend to add users with the gui. That way you can hope to get sane defaults. At least on xfce that works. No idea about kuser though.

Re: SolydXK 10 Testing [updated: 31-07-2019]

Firefox opens with three tabs and on the first one, claims that it's out of date. For Mozilla, ESRs don't count, apparently. Missed this when looking at SolydK. Mozilla is at ESR68, that's why. I hope the annoying popup doesn't make re re-appearance. And I've seen the same welcome hickups but I tho...

Re: How to add user ?

Try

Code: Select all

sudo adduser bob
Or use the graphical interface, its called "Users and Groups" in XFCE and I'm sure there is a equivalent on KDE.

Just edit your first post and change the topic there.

Re: SolydK10 Firefox ESR bookmarks problem

Hm, the latest package is firefox-solydxk-adjustments_2019.09.06 - why is yours from July? Is there a problem with updating?
Run sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade from terminal, please.

Re: When will SolydXK be updated to debian buster?

We are working on releasing the new ISOs but every day some new improvement comes up ... anyway, these ISOs here https://downloads.solydxk.com/nightly/ are already good to use. Any day now :) Arjen has an update script here https://forums.solydxk.com/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=7537#p70116 which some users...

Re: Lightdm does not show new users

I can't find any place in your config setting "greeter-show-manual-login=false". Doesn't matter. /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/01_debian.conf has "greeter-hide-users=true" while /etc/lightdm has "greeter-hide-users=false" - I can't find out which one wins. Try to set both to false. Best practice...

Re: SolydK10 Firefox ESR bookmarks problem

I'm sorry, I got confused with the name - I wanted to get the version number of the "firefox-esr-solydxk-adjustments" package - which doesn't start with Solydxk.

Re: Lightdm does not show new users

My etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf file has greeter-show-manual-login=false That's not the default setting. Please attach your /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf file. There's also /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/ which might hold conflicting settings. I'm not sure which one takes precedence. Are you on SolydK9 ...

Re: SolydK10 Firefox ESR bookmarks problem

This might be due to us testing different firefox settings for the ISO release and updating the adjustments package. Normally that should not affect your bookmarks, but maybe something went wrong there. Could you please post the output of dpkg -l solydxk* ?

Re: Gnome-keyring problems (with chromium) [partly solved]

I checked and on a fresh install there is no login.keyring file. Lightdm/pam/gnome-keyring do not create that file and as a consequence nothing is ever unlocked on login. At least I solved that part of the problem: The terminal way of creating a login.keyring file is: ~$ gnome-keyring-daemon --unloc...
